Never seen a palm tree station before

Yep! Lots of them about. i think they look best under the pink lights, like Smoot station.

They're pretty rare (which is a shame, as they are a welcome change), but they have been around since at least Beta 1. Although I can't remember when I last landed at one :(

There you go Arry, further proof of an atmosphere, unless they are plastic of course.

Question: How would plants grow in no gravity? As in would they form normally?

There is atmosphere and low gravity. For most growth, light is more important. Look a the ISS. Yes I know it is fake etc., but they grow green stuff there.

I hate the low gravity in star-ports, makes landing so different to '0' gravity outposts.

Not if you look at the wreckage that floats around the station, that would indicate no gravity, I.e. everything floating in the station (not ships with correctional on) is stationary relative to the rotation of the hub

P.s. I was just furthering you correctly, correcting me on atmospheres within stations.

on plants growing in zero gravity: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2012/121207-plants-grow-space-station-science/

atmosphere ... that is an very intersting question. elite knows of creatures living in the vacuum: "Vacuum Krill are astonishing creatures. One of the few species to live in the hard vacuum of space, they are native to the ice rings around Baltah'sine 4b...." ... maybe those palmtrees are like that? and, on another hand, obviously an station has some kind of "atmosphere" inside (actually, this also explains more about the slot...)

Yep, There is no gravity effect in the station when free floating, you have to be in contact with the surface to feel the centripetal force.

As Arry pointed out to me before your atmosphere is restored from a cracked canopy on entering a station, therefore an atmosphere.

Here's another... one of the Sol stations...

Would it not be the case then, under centripetal force those trees should be angled?
Depends. If station rotated rapidly - probably yes. This is problem with gravity simulated this way - forces experienced 'up there' would be slightly different than at the surface. It would definitely have all kinds of funny effects on people. Maybe that's why stations simulate only very little gravity, to avoid these negative effects. Also, it's easier to lift things in docking area :)

Irkutsk in Alioth was the first Palm Station I ever saw back in the day. I wasn't expecting it and was floored the first time. In fact I probably wasn't aware they existed then. the moment was so profound I made it my home :)
