Appropriate side? you mean from the back, at full boost, with shields off and silent running on?

I like to do that while barrel rolling. It works on outposts too.

I have a vid to prove it. Now where did I put that? Hmm...looks like I might have erased it. ;)

This debate has come up before and i recall that FD stated that the rules of the Sea were not the intentions when creating this.

Maybe not - but that's what they have unintentionally produced. Of course - whether anyone obeys those rules is irrelevant ;-)

Im also a straight down the middle man
.
Pilots say there are three things that are useless
.
  • Runway behind you
  • Airspace above you
  • Fuel in the fuel truck
.
I would say that
.
  • Space to the side through the slot
  • Limpets on the station
.
Are pretty useless to me so the way to minimise the space to the sides is go through the middle

In or out, green on you right. Green is safe, to avoid NPCs, but no guarantees with other real players.

If you go in on the green side and the lights to you right, you have the designed pad layout underneath you. Pads 1 to 4, are in a straight line, under you as you go in.
I do it this way as well and for the same reasons. i.e. for pad 24, I still go in on 'green side', but I put it on my left so the landing pad is directly below me as I go through the slot. Probably not a consideration for folks in wee ships.

I learnt from the NPC ships, who showed me the way.

Proper docking procedure is to enter the access corridor on the right side, with the green lights to your right side.

The same procedure is true when exiting the starport.

Oh, and I fly below the speed limit. I role-play that hard. :D

The only reason that the NPC's enter and exit on the green side is that people (players) made up this silly rule (traffic lights) and SJA (Mistress of the minions) accommodated them .. NPC's used to dock centrally ..

I know that there is no right, left, up or down in space.

Nevertheless I want to know exactly from which side you usually enter the slot, or to be more accurate, when you enter the slot where do you usually see the "inwards" side ?

Why you ask, because of..........

SCIENCE !

And stuff :p.

I'm colour-blind - so there is no red & green either.....

I also put my lights on as if they are some form of docking signal.

I tend to avoid this as I think it is rude to shine your spotlights on incoming craft.

Only in dark stations do I use the light. Even then, if I see a commander coming my way, I lower the beams as a courtesy.
