My rig is an i7 5820k OCed to 4.6Mhz with the Asus 5-Way optimization software
Hey Gapper, have you tried removing the CPU OC as a test?
My previous rig was OCed and gave me poor performance in some games.
Might be worth giving it a try.

A silly thought and forgive me if its been mentioned already, but you have updated to the latest Nvidia vr driver haven't you? I have a 980ti and it's never been smoother or as clear, both on 0.5 and 0.8 run times.
I've said it on other threads but it bears repeating. My performance with 1.3 is...ok, but still not as good as I was getting with 0.5. Some background first. My rig is an i7 5820k OCed to 4.6Mhz with the Asus 5-Way optimization software, 16G Corsair DDR4 RAM, Asus X99 mobo, Asus Matrix Platinum GTX 980ti, Corsair 1000 PSU, and Samsung 840 SSD. Maybe not cutting edge but I think it's fairly good.
Before 1.3, I ran 0.5, and used all the tricks in the pinned optimization thread. I could run 4K DSR plus 1.5 SS, with SMAA, no blur, no bloom,no ambient occlusion, but everything else maxed out. The game looked great and ran smooth.
Now, with 1.5 SS, SMAA, no blur, no ambient occlusion, no bloom, but with everything else maxed out, my performance is not as good. Setting aside the terrible smearing, I get hitching in asteroid fields and sometimes in stations. I can turn my head without judder in the ship, but the asteroids seem to stagger a bit. Not always but it happens often enough that it detracts from the experience.
What am I doing wrong, or has someone else with a similar system experienced something like this ? Is it because I still have the DK2 and the game is simply not optimized for it ? Please let me know your opinions. I don't have the cash nor the inclination to upgrade anything else in anticipation of my CV1 and am getting a bit nervous that ED will never look as good again[knocked out]
So i'm not the only one having the settings resetting all the time to a lower resolution?
I'm I doing soeting wrong while starting the game?
I set at 1080p but I can't rise the HZ to 75, only 60HZ
But once the game is restarted I have to put the settings back again
My performance (Fury X with 16.3.2 driver) is better than with previous runtimes but it's still not fine in all situations. I still get a fps decrease over time down to the 20s while in Supercruise but ATW manages to compensate this very well. Out of supercruise and planetary bases I can maintain 75 fps with VR High preset and 1.5x SS. What's strange is the performance decrease is only happening while using the DK2 and graphics settings have no effect at all. I uninstalled my old drivers using ddu and even upgraded my bios yesterday.
It's like the old AMD supercruise bug but for VR only. Could be some memory leak. I will take a look this evening.Interesting. Would that be perhaps a memory leak issue ?
Just to compare apples to apples ,
I choose the Ultra preset, then disable AA, AO, Bloom, Blur and set SS to 1.5.
With this setting, head movement is silky smooth, but now and then, the rest of the world outside the ship gets the occasional stammer. Now and then in Supercruise, and now and then in battle amongst the asteroids. It's not judder (as in nausea), it's just that as you rotate the ship quickly, the scenery doesn't slip by silky smooth "All the time".

Yes ! You describe it perfectly. That's exactly what I experience. And I shouldn't with the system that I have. Yours seems broadly similar to mine. Strange. There seems to be no consistent factor. Some people with similar systems have flawless performance while some of us experience these symptoms.
VRHigh is actually significantly less than the Ultra preset, so it would be interesting to hear how things go when you choose Ultra. In my case, I choose Ultra, then disable AA,AO,Bloom, Blur, and set SS to 1.5.
It seems that 1.3 and ATW has eliminated the Head Turn Judder, we now have to fine turn the rest of ED performance in VR.

It's only in ED that I have these issues, all the other VR apps that I have downloaded from the Oculus Store are flawless.
I wonder if others really do have totally flawless performance, or whether they aren't bothered by what you and I see. Perhaps we're being too fussy now that the head movement is so smooth. It highlights every other little glitch.

Agree about the bland colours, am really missing EDFX
