Good luck, CMDR Bran! Playing the BSG is the most attractive part of ED to me, so hope you have fun. A bit out of the way for me, but all the best, and would love to see progress reports, here.

You can kill system authorities at the station if you have a real good ship and good combat skills. Tag one close to the station and immediately run well outside the no fire zone and turn around FA off. Be aware that the station may attack you, so you'll need to be fast at getting out of range. The system authorities will come out to meet you in droves. It's pretty fun. Be ready to bug out when the multiple rail gun toting eagle wings start in.
If you have a fast ship with shields, you can go inside the no fire zone and ram ships while speeding. Don't kill them, just tap them and you'll collect fines. Fines and bounties will drive the system owner down.
If you're not up for that, you can kill any clean NPC or system authority ship in SC or at the nav beacon for a more leisure time.
I'm outside Garratt Station in open in an Anaconda. Say hi if you see me.

Thanks, I did a little ramming at Garratt Station and killing at the Nav Beacon in open mode...will do some more tomorrow.
As somebody has already pointed out in the other thread, Frey Free is with the Federation.
There are three independent minor factions which are either corporate or dictatorships. :|
Unfortunatelly Frey is too far down to receive support from the Alliance.
I'm definatelly going to keep an eye on this war.

All good stuff CMDR's! Make sure above all else you have fun and enjoy the war!
I didn't get a lot of flight time in but I did manage to have the game loaded while doing RW 'stuff' so I accepted missions for the Corp and then of course dropped them. Tonight I'll be sat outside Garret station playing pew pew with the po po.
As for Free Frey being aligned with the Federation - things change - they weren't aligned to them when I began playing - if they are still this way when the war ends... well then it will make my next minor faction to pick on far easier to choose!

The war is going in the other side's favor. I saw a LOT of bounty hunters there last night and they'll easily overwhelm anything we can do. There's undoubtedly bounty hunting going on in group and solo modes as well. The system is just too good for bounty hunting. Add the trade that's going on and I don't think this war is a winnable thing.

Guns for hire eh... Tempting especially after Motti's summary. How about this as a compromise... Once I get a high enough bounty, you can take it from me. I'll even make it easy and sit in a Sidewinder. You get a bounty, I get my record cleaned, war continues!
As for this being a possible lost cause... It's better than it being a slaughter... I like these odds!

If you want bounty hunting to have an impact in your favor, then you must NEVER shoot Frey Free ships for any reason, even if they shoot at you. And you must NEVER claim any bounties for C&S Mining. Just let the C&S Mining bounties stay unclaimed until the station is flipped. Also, the bounties have a larger impact if you claim them OFTEN, rather than accumulate a lot and claim them once. And claim the bounties for a single faction at a time - don't claim them in a single transaction. For best influence, maximize your rate of claims, not the claim amount. 100 claims of 1K each is 100X more influence than 1 claim of 100K. Better to go to a USS just outside of the station and shoot a few pirates with a round trip time of 3 minutes than to go to a RES and shoot a bunch of anacondas with a round trip time of 30 minutes - the influence would be 10x greater!

There are a few mentions of taking down the system authorities, this will only lead to a lockdown, this will ring fence C&S's influence for the duration...so holster your guns or just turn them onto the civilian population instead this will only cause civil unrest.
I popped along when Bran had his call to arms the other day, judging by the ship types and bounties cashed in there is an awful lot of bounty hunting going on but I saw no CMDR's (I play on Xbox) at all.
No BB missions for Free Frey either which isn't great, but take missions for C&S and take the alternative complete from the 'follow my wake' NPC's, very effective at influence reduction
