Powerplay powerplay with a cutter

Basically, Iv'e got a cutter I want to get to ALD rank 5. I dont really get powerplay, although it is probably very simple for most to understand. How do I use my cutter for soft power projections (hauling stuff) to get ALD rank 5? I want ALD rank 5 for bounty hunting I have other ships for that. Im grateful for any helpful input
:)

If you have a cutter, there's no real point to move past rank three of your chosen faction. It you want Prismatics for a trade cutter; go for that. Just understand, Prismatic in your 8 slot is less optimal that the alternatives.

I'm unsure if there are any faction specific weapons that benefit the cutter outside of the Prismatics for trade purposes. You won't be using rails which IMO are the only other faction weapon worth targeting.

For trade purposes, no - there's none - not even the primatics. If one's solely trading then there's zip nada for them in powerplay. As nice as prismatics are, they give nothing for a "trade build".

Can anyone give me a hint of how much game time per week you need for getting from no rank to rank three. I really fancy some of the toys but I can't be bothered to commit most of my game time to it. Which is currently about 2hrs a day 3-4 days a week on average. I could probably commit to about half of it

Fill up all 792 cargo slots with that sweet powerplay currency.

:D ... just don't do that in Open unless you know your ropes. I rather do it with 720 tons and retain capability to obliterate (or ignore) anything that's not a wing of players - 720 gives you the option to wholesale ignore NPCs *and* players while you spool your drive to give them a middle finger salute (unless they bring along another Cutter to mass lock you).

That's fine.

I traded all the way up to Elite in Open with my Cutter though, and the only 'PVP' encounter I had was a poor noob in a Hauler trying to zoom past me in the docking port. He lived, but barely...

Well, I've not had any "pvp" encounter so far unless I intentionally go looking for one (what I do when I'm in a real bad mood). Aside antics of a few individuals, Open's pretty cozy - or then it's just me and people staying away from my path.

I would have to disagree that prismatics are "useless" in a trade ship on a Cutter. I would love to fly this in a trade cg and laugh at the pirates as they try to kill it.

There's that, but unless you intend to actually stay and fight, you can do with 7-8 boosters and D class normal shields - I've yet to meet anyone or anything that could take even D6+boosters down before I'm gone - while hauling 720+ tons of cargo.

Only a ganker or numbskull would interdict a cutter. A Imperial Hammer Conda could theoretically destroy a cutter if it doesn't submit.

Pirates know there's no way you will have to give into demands unless you're a Robigo Cowboy. Even with a 6a shield setup, a skilled Cutter pilot with a competent armed trade build can also do some serious damage to most good pirates which kinda goes against the nature of the profession.

What a trade Cutter (Trudder?) can do is indeed some in the skill of its pilot, against NPCs a Trudder properly piloted can take down anything (I occasionally go HAZ res BH'ing and CZ's with my Trudder, for example) - against players it varies wildly tho - stay or fight? A trudder can do either, by pilot's decision and without regard to what the opponents might want.

But it is as you say, if the Trudder happens to have a smithreen of brain, anything but a wing is lost cause - and often even then.

So i just go from one of ALDs controlled systems, with "powerplay cargo" and take it to a system in turmoil or tagged for expansion? I hear it'll cost me 50 mill in cargo, but obviously ill get that back next powerplay cycle. Any estimated time it'll take to get 10,000 merits using the cutter?

I do not endorse this behavior as proper use of the cutter.

Anything beyond rank three is offensive to the senses. Get your fourth week and then move 750t worth of cargo. You will then be able to fit that prismatic shield on your other ships you'll never fly because you have a CUTTER!!!!!

Go get some MA's or run some trade/smuggling missions, a rate your cutter, or plant a C4 cannon round in a conda's power plant in a hrez. All these things you can do instead of spending 100M on and delivering flyers.

Ive already a rated my cutter - its still a boat, although i do love her. I have lots of cash and other ships. I just want the bounty hunting buff, but thanks your disapproving input :p

I'm not sure about ALD because I'm with ZH, but with him, you do one of the following:

Carry 10000 tons of fortification supplies from his headquarters to any control system
Carry 10000 tons of intel from any preparation system to any control system

It will be something similar for ALD. You can find out exactly by going to your power's page in "Gallacic Powers" on your nav panel. Click on each tab at the top, which will show which systems are involved on the left, and what you have to do on the right.

10000 tons will cost you just under 100 million, but you get 50 million back in salary. When doing these runs, don't speed in the no-fire zone.

Um. No. ALD does not expand with cargo.

If you look on the sub-forum, ALD Research has pinpointed 4 targets for preparation. Any assistance with those will be greatly welcome. Those are systems where you can load up on 'corruption reports' from a Control System and deliver them in the system that's a preparation target. Waimiri and Corio are likely going to be the fastest round trips this week.

If you're looking to fortify, please also use our cycle priorities so you can lend a hand to efficiency.

50 million is roughly the cost for fast-tracking to maintain Rating 5, thus only hauling 5433t every week. You can spend 3-4 weeks delivering specifically that amount to work your way up to Rating 5. Reaching Rating 5 this week will cost a lot more than 50 million, though you can also earn merits by opposing one of the five weaponized expansions in ALD space, which are also mentioned in cycle priorities.

Thanks for taking the time to investigate.

The idea is to stay around long enough to have some fun.
