Nice to see the arrivals thread nearing 200 CMDRs already. Here's a few at BP this morning.

So, when it's all over, and you're back in civilised space, what are you planning to do with you're trusty Distant worlds exploration ships?

I think I'm going to keep her as a memento of the journey, I will repair the hull, keep the battered paintwork and then store my trusty Asp in a nice palm tree station in Sol. She's earned a comfy retirement :)

Think i'll do the same, my Asp deserves a retirement

The first thing I will do is get my condie back up to A rated combat status and go and kill some celebrities. Their numbers have probably got out of hand since I have been on this trip. I am the ACMD.....all celebrities must die.

I arrived early this morning. While the plan was to stop for the night at 1kly and do the rest today, somehow the brakes didn't work and i found myself at Beagle Point (and tired).

Stats for the expedition :
Hyperspace distance : 104 974
Systems visited : 3571
Hyperspace jumps : 3586
Time played : 8d 18h 22min
Hull status : 88% (4-5% lost in an almost crash at WP5 2nd landing, the rest through involuntarily getting to near to stars or voluntarily going to near to black holes)
SRV distance travelled : 214 km

SRV distance is a bit ridiculous, but i didn't need jumponium and had framerates problem when in SRV at waypoints after WP9 so i didn't go out much anymore. (that and the communication problem between SRVs and ships)
Went back to the bubble once by teleport after an SRV exploded, but did not repair or sell data.

This trip was really nice. Though with my playtime i didn't have that much time to roam freely around, the waypoints were really nicely chosen and brought us awesome sights, as well as nice gatherings. Thanks to everyone i met on the trip and to everyone else too !
It was my 4th exploration trip : started playing around november, bought an ASP in december as some exploration threads had pushed me to try my hand at it, went to the coalsack with a few friends around Christmas, went to Sag a* and back in 3 days around New Year, a small trip to Vy Canis and the Barnard Loop to break away from farming the Anaconda, and now DW. All previous expeditions were short (sort of, be it in distance or time), this one is the biggest for me.
Also it's not really finished since we have some festivities here and then the return trip to look forward too :)

While i did so with my Sag a* ASP (well, i also used it for the 3rd explo trip but it'll forever be a pure exploration ship -> had to buy another ASP to do my Robigo farming), i don't have the money yet to do the same with my current Anaconda. So for now i consider refitting it to fighting or trading to see how it feels to put some guns on it and fight as a non maneuverable semi fortress (up till now i only fought in the Vulture so it should be quite different :) ).

I could have arrived yesterday but decided to leave my Asp 1 jump from BP. I want both my ships to arrive on same day (today hopefully). My 'conda has 5Klys to do. Unfortunately as I am 4K miles from home on holiday in Florida I only have my laptop so the group shot of the 2 ships will have to wait until my return to UK.

I never thought about not making it here with 2 ships, it would be easy right? So much time, so little to do. Then my X52Pro broke (currently in some repair unit somewhere), now flying with an Xbox controller.

Then 4 days before my holiday US Borders and Customs decide to cancel my ESTA meaning I had to travel 380 miles round trip up to bonnie Scotland to pick up a new e-passport. That nice email came on the same morning the we were burying my mother-in-law who had passed suddenly the previous week.

At least I can say 'it's been a journey' and it have real meaning, not just endless jump, scoop, repeat.

She'll be restored to her full glory, in readiness for the next expedition, and then rested at HR 6421 whilst I jump into one of my other ships and go and kill something, or several somethings! :D

Grats on doing it with two ships, that takes some dedication! I've had a similar experience in that my HOTAS kind of broke. I say kind of because I own a Logitech g940, it was the only HOTAS with force feedback motors, and even if the game does not support force feedback (such as Elite), they are still used to center the stick, as it isn't equipped with the classic centering spring. Anyway, long story short, the force feedback decided to go haywire on me so every time I push the stick to the right the motors just go plain nuts. I've been looking into repairing the stick, I believe it's possible but I didn't want to chance bricking it just before Beagle point so I just turned down the centering force on the FFB motors to a bare minimum and been flying like that since. You could say I kind of limped to BP. Now that I'm there, I'll probably take the stick apart tomorrow as there's no further risk of me missing the BP week window. If I can't fix it I may need to get something like an X-55 (would love a Warthog but with the dollar value up it costs a fortune in local currency atm, way too much for a gaming controller).

Does anyone have a good outline for a route back to the bubble?

I'm about 200LY to beagle point but I'm already concerned about making my way back home alone!

thanks!

I might look into a route that was posted on p.515 of this thread. Even though Iv only got a 29.16LY range I may look into it

same here,
but will have to rip off the FuelScoop out of that (t)rusty Asp, too much money for me :D
would you reconsider if there is a reward exclusively for your DWE-ship ?! ;)

I'll do with my Asp what I've done with her for the past year: continue exploring the galaxy! This isn't a retirement cruise or anything, it's just a stroll across the galaxy man! :D

I think I am going to retire her until another big exploration mission/event, I don't feel it's right to use her for anything but exploration. I'm hoping to get an Anaconda for some personal exploration between said events.

I never named my ship either, so maybe I'll make a decision on that too

My Asp "Lucky 7" and I will most likely be heading back out after a well earned rest... new paint job and a small refit and off we go :)

7% and still truckin'

As my original conda hull has a prismatic shield, I bought a second conda for exploration purposes rather than just refit the original. Both hulls will be kept, one for multipurpose, one for exploration.
The next objective is to advance in the Empire until I can get an iCutter & earn myself the Elite trader rank.
