Pirates earn by stealing cargo. But all the trader's cargo is destroyed if you kill them.
As long as they're alive, they still have cargo to plunder, and you still have opportunity to force them to yield cargo. Yarrr!!!
And BHs earn their living by blowing up pirates, no questions asked - just flat firepower in the face. Some might be prudent enough to KWS, but most not - if you fly a sturdy enough ship, KWS may count down before you blow up... but often times it doesn't.

No. No. Rather a trader that killed the pirate. Traders just need to stop being stupid sheep. If, as a trader, you get shot - that's all your own fault. Period. Your - own - fault. Fix the issue, rig your ship better - and if you're not a stupid lummox then you do have funds to do that.

Agreed, when somebody high-wakes I'm fine with it because we did our job and enforced our authority on the system. I mean, sure, they probably just hop into Solo/PG and come back to do whatever it is they were doing, but there's nothing you can do about that.
Basically unless the trader wants to get pirated for RP reasons this is never going to happen. They are either going to high-wake or start the 15-second-timer. So you're not going to see any actual pirates, that kind of interaction just isn't going to happen. All you're going to get is so-called Griefers, i.e. people who shoot and ask questions later because as far as they're concerned they have 15 seconds before the trader disappears.Pirates earn by stealing cargo.
