My answer was more aimed for the fuel rat part of his statement

Now just translate the Galactic coordinates & distance (11 kLy) to E: D's coordinate system. It seems that I'm not alone in my space madness case, so I'll lay the last bits out for those interested.
If you're not (as in don't want to be biased in your search), just pass on.
- Cambridge clue : in 1947, radio-astronomers from cambridge discover the strongest radio source > 1GHz out of the solar system. The source is a supernova remnant called Cassiopeia A. The progenitor is unknow as of today, but there is an X ray source there. It is not in game, despite being observable IRL. galactic coord are 111.7°-2.1°. I find very strange that such an object is "missing" from the map.
- Seven Veils : Prior to core collapse, the progenitor star has 7 layers of nuclear fuel, that will be discarded during the explosion. What remains is the core.

Wow, cool!Did it, somwhere along in the region :
-3977.23 -9972.67 430.32 -4097.75 -10274.87 443.36 -4459.32 -11181.47 482.48
If I did not fumble anything (the Z coord might be the wrong sign, so feel free to check)
I'm expecting some more like a new sort of strong signal source. Back before the UA was ever connected to Merope, I had been out to the Pleiades a few times, and you could tell something mysterious was going on there, just from a sheer number of signal sources that kept popping up. I never found a UA then, but the SS's still told me something was up.
So I'm expect that, when we find something, we'll first see an uptick (or any) signal sources (beyond wreckage), and from then it'll be time and searching, popping into SS after SS, until the rng gods bless us with a find.
So I'm with Cyalope. I don't think honking and scanning will get us anything, because we need to be flying around a bit to give things a chance to spawn.

edit : reordered to correct order
Wait. If in Drew's book it's said that there are "dark systems, not mapped", it means they aren't shown on galaxy map.
So... Should we fly along R-R line, while looking at SKYBOX and checking for anything, that can be seen on skybox, but not on galaxy map?

Also, i finished surveying yesterday Leut's brown dwarf cluster. Mainly by scanning main star, checking system map and going to next system.
Nothing unusual found, some systems had landable/unladnable planets, some had gas giants, but nothing unusual.
