FOR EXPEDITION ORGANIZERS - ADDING YOUR EXPEDITION OR EVENT :

This information hub is here to promote and give quick-link access to all current and planned expeditions.

If you have an expedition or exploration-related event in mind that you would like to pitch to the wider community, and you're confident that it will have a growing interest from other players who may want to take part, feel free to add it to the list above. You will need a forum thread that I can link to, showing your expedition details, planned departure date, and other relevant info that you think interested explorers may need to know.

All expeditions will be listed in chronological order of their departure date, so if yours is scheduled before or during any of those that appear on the list above, don't worry, it'll be placed in the correct chronological order. Expeditions in the past have often overlapped, and different expeditions appeal to different explorers, so there is no reason to delay scheduling yours until after any of the existing ones are over.

FOR EXPLORERS - SIGNING UP TO AN EXPEDITION :

Do not use this thread for expedition sign-ups. This is an information overview only. For sign-up details on the expeditions that you're interested in, click the appropriate info links on the table above.

FOR EXPEDITION ORGANIZERS AND EXPLORERS - AN INVITE TO FLEETCOMM & THE DEEP SPACE COMMUNICATIONS ARRAY :

NEENwLb.png
FLEETCOMM (DISCORD) :

Created during the Distant Worlds 3302 Expedition, FleetComm is a Discord Server dedicated to exploration. Over 700 explorers now use this service to meet other like-minded players, discuss up coming expeditions, and pitch new ideas for future exploration-related events. The primary mode of communication is text based, but voice channels are readily available as well for those who prefer them.

Joining FleetComm is easy, just click this link and request access : FleetComm Access

Discord is web-based, so there are no third party apps to download.

As part of FleetComm, members can also apply to join Kamzel group if they wish. This private in-game group is the primary group used during the Distant Worlds expedition and currently has 800 members. It is to be used as a purely exploration-oriented group only, and follows the Mobius ruleset, so PvP is strictly forbidden. Treat everyone you meet in Kamzel group as an ally and fellow fleet member. It is politically neutral so opposing faction members need to keep their political ideologies out of this particular group when using it. Once removed form Kamzel for whatever reason, the CMDR will be blocked from all future events that use it and there will be no invites back, ever, so please respect its simple non-aggression rule.

If you would like to join Kamzel group you will need apply in-game to the group and then [importantly] send "Erimus Kamzel" a private message in FleetComm (Discord), stating your Frontier Forum Name and CMDR Name.

THE DEEP SPACE COMMUNICATIONS ARRAY :

THE ARRAY (TEAMSPEAK) :

Constructed by the FGE, the Deep Space Communications Array is open for all explorers as a way to keep in touch while out in the depths of deep space, so all those solo explorers can chat to fellow explorers or any of the big expeditions that might be passing through their little section of the galaxy. It also accommodates numerous "wing channels" that may be used by any explorers in need of reliable communication with their current wing members.

For more information please visit the DSCA thread by clicking the banner below...

EDSM (ELITE DANGEROUS STAR MAP) :

EDSM is the ideal logging tool for explorers to use during their expeditions. For more information on this fantastic project, click : Here

To track the current progress and see a wealth of statistics regarding expeditions currently in progress, click the screenshot below...

IRIDIUM WING - "FROM THE DARKNESS OF SPACE TO HOME SAFE HOME" :

Iridium Wing are dedicated pilots there to escort all returning exploration fleets, and individuals, back home from the depths.

For more information on this fantastic group and the services they offer, please check out their home page by clicking the banner below...

IN CONCEPT - THE EXPLORERS SOCIETY (DR KAII) :

For more information on the possible formation of an 'Explorers Society' please visit the linked thread and have your say/input.

4YDS4xr.png

 • An open mapping project : Anyone can sign up at any time and explore any part of the Sagittarius-Carina Arm at their own pace.
 • It is the aim of this mission to explore an area corresponding to a semi-circumnavigation of the galaxy (the Sagittarius-Carina Arm and the Sagittarius Constellation), and by doing this collection Points Of Interest (POI´s) for the Galactic Mapping project.
 • Any explorer is welcome to join for only a part of this voyage, or explore along the planned route at their own pace.
 • All participants should sign up in the list of participants. We encourage you to also sign up on the FGE forums and say hello.

HzOZmA6.png

 • The CNE's main objective is to charter the surrounding areas at each Waypoint leading up to the Nebula itself.
 • The CNE is also going to be a great Sightseeing Opportunity for Rookie and Veteran Explorers alike as the planned route will take us to some of the most beautiful locations in Elite Dangerous.
 • Departure Date: June 11th 3302.

EXPEDITIONS IN CONCEPT STAGE & PRE-PLANNING :

The Formidine Rift Expedition : Link (unavailable at the moment)

FORMIDINE RIFT EXPEDITION (DISCOVERY)
 • The Formidine Rift has been a hot topic on the general discussion forum since early 3301. It was once rumored to be the origins of the Unidentified Artifact during the "Thargoid Flap" of March & April 3301. The first UA's appeared around the same time that the Formidine Rift riddles from Elite: Reclamation author (Drew Wagar) were being posted in the original Soontill Relics thread. Today it is now better known for the mysteries surrounding Salomé (Elite: Reclamation), and what she's discovered out there. There are hints that something is out in, or beyond, the Formidine Rift, and has been there for a long time - yet despite hundreds of individual and small-scale excursions to the region, so far nothing has been discovered.
 • Expedition is in the pre-planning stage, meaning dedicated FleetComm channels and forum discussion threads are already in-place and active but no dates or information for anything beyond that is available at this point.
 • This expedition depends on the outcome of the Formidine Rift Mystery search that is currently being conducted throughout that region.

THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS (SIGHT-SEEING TOUR)
 • The Festival Grounds are a region of the Outer Galactic Core regions, rich in colorful nebula. This sight-seeing tour will be ideal for photographers and explorers alike.
 • Expedition is in the early concept stage, meaning no further information is available at the moment.

RETURN TO HYPONIA (BORDER MAPPING)
 • An expedition to map the borders of the Hyponia Region, 33,000 Light Years along the Perseus arm, and an opportunity for explorers to bring back information on POIs from the Lower 1st Quadrant of the Milky Way.
 • Expedition is in the early concept stage, meaning no further information is available at the moment.

THE ABYSSAL PLAIN (EXPLORATION)
 • An expedition to explore the furthest reaches of the galaxy, where seldom few have traveled. Virtually no information is known about the Abyssal Plain, so this mission will be invaluable to the Galactic Mapping Project.
 • Expedition is in the early concept stage, meaning no further information is available at the moment.

Great initiative as allways!

Nice to have everything past and present listed in one place - and also exciting to look forward to the things to come :D

UPDATE:

I will be doing a Q & A about the Sagittarius-Carina mission this sunday (april 10th) at 18.00 IGT in our channels on the FleetComm discord server (both voice and text). I will do a short brief and then answer any questions. And I might even have a few questions of my own that I would like to ask those taking part... Looking forward to meeting you there!

Being organised will definitely help in unravelling the mysteries of the universe. Kudos to you, Commanders.

Cheers,

Drew.

This is an excellent idea. Subscribed. Exploration in Elite is quickly growing into an incredible movement, I'm honestly excited about it!

The dawn of exploration has arrived. :)

If there was any way to tie up all the great expeditions out there, this would be it.

If there are other expeditions not mentioned so far, should they be included? Not all of them use these forums for coordination and information.

If people can dig them out for me with info on who organized them, mission goal, estimated participants, and a link, I'll add them :)

They need to be group expeditions though, as I don't want to include hundreds of individual & solo events* (someone else can compile those if there's a demand).

*I added the first five pioneering expeditions on here even though they were single-player ventures as there wasn't anywhere that was preserving them for posterity.

I had the Explorer division of the EDC (Elite Dangerous Community) in mind when reading this. I think they would welcome being included in the Hub, and they have been on many a group expedition, involving small groups.

Love this idea. Will definitely be following this thread to find out what is new and to keep up to date with my fellow explorers!
