Following recent events with the Alliance, I've decided now is the right time to go back out (and run away!) into the black.

I am curious. Is there any record for how far the Cobra Mk IV ship class has made it outside the bubble?

Did one make it to Beagle Point?

After reading Frawd's tale of his Sidewinder Mk I once more, I think I now have the balls to take a lower jump-range ship out.

I might go south this time though, then turn north again after seeing some of the southern nebulae.

And this time Charles has a wife, Wendy. He's seen a small slice of the galaxy. Now he wants to show her its wonders.

Me, I'm in no rush to find anything particular. I've already found my ELW. Don't need anything more myself.

Good luck and safe exploring in the IV my friend - I think it's a excellent planet lander so don't forget to pack an SRV :)

I think you just convinced me to go. [yesnod]

This is my build: http://coriolis.io/outfit/cobra_mk_iv/02A4D4A3D2D3D4C-----02020nv432f4430i2i2f.AwRjdcuSUo==.Aw18SQ==

I have two SRV's for good measure. The second does barely anything to the jump range so it's all good. [hotas]

Time to clog up my browser with exploration guides & tools once more... [blah]

I took my Cobra mkIV to Beagle Point as part of DWE.

I made it across the Abyss at Roncevaux without boosts, plotting got tricky though.

Last 500ly to BP required a few boosts, no premium. My jump range is 22.8 fulltank.

No, but I think you got the record for longest thread title ;)

(there are MKIVs at BP from what I recall)

Yeah, I mean, it's possible with premium Jumponium, no doubt about it.

So I'll to find some of that for sure.

That's an excellent pic Racer!

I almost took a Cobra MkIII on the DWE, but my Asp won out. I do prefer the looks of the MkIV over the MkIII. My biggest gripes with the ship are it's horrible combat ability, but when out exploring in deep space that becomes a non issue! The internal space on the ship is excellent.

I was very pleased to learn that Charles has taken a wife and one with such charming retro name. It is not usually recommended for a husband and wife to be together on such a long and dangerous trip so it is comforting to know you will be along as an arbiter for any minor domestic disturbances that might occur. I trust also that you will be able to give them some time alone as any newly weds would wish. Perhaps you can take long evening trips in the SRV from time to time.
