Robigo under Preparation?

I see both Zachary Hudson and ALD are both preparing Robigo (ZH 175/100, ALD 310/100 as of date)

So what does this mean? Will Robigo be expanded into? That would be interesting. It seems to be contesting with ALD and ZH, so I wonder how this will turn out. I'm not sure how Powerplay works yet, but this is definitely a new change. What will the future of Robigo hold? Please discuss below!

Did a bit of research and turns out there's a good chance someone will expand there. Right now it looks like Zachary Hudson is overtaking ALD, but either way it might go ahead into the expansion phase.

Overall it is a bit dumb for robigo to expand since there are no surrounding stations, but it might be cool :)

Good spot. Will probably be a negative CC station since as you say no surrounding systems.

Be interesting if powerplay changes the mission spawn stuff although I doubt it since that's largely minor faction based, I think... Maybe? Right?

It means someone is 5th Columning them by prepping that system in their name, despite the player not supporting that group.

Ugh, Xth columning - what does that mean in layman's terms (for one who isn't versed in whatever-you-have century politics)? Sounds pretty akin to other meaningless buzzwords like "meta" et al.

Infiltrating the powerplay faction (joining with intent to damage) and hurting them by progressing the faction into a weak system often with negative consequences. Since the negative "work" cannot be undone the only way to stop these is to pull 3/4 good systems into a better position than the bad system.

A small group of dedicated people pushing a bad system can often overwhelm the un-organised masses as the bad guys only have to do ~1/4 the work to ensure the bad expansion takes precedence.

I can hear my brain cells popping in vain ... I get what you say, but not the root of what you say. Is this columning some historical reference to that isn't known by most of the world or what?

Yep. Basically prepping/fortifying systems the other faction doesn't really want or won't benefit them, but doing it on purpose because they know it will hurt the faction and theirs very little the real supporters of a faction can do about it.

Prime example being massive 11th Hour prepping.

Ok, so metaphor time :D

A group of people want to vote for a new car for their company.

The options are:
Good car 1
Good car 2
Good car 3
Bad car 4

There's 9 people and 3 of those are secretly infiltrating the group.

The 3 infiltrators vote for car 4.
The remaining 6 proper votes are evenly spread between cars 1-3 with each option getting 2 votes apiece.

Option 4 of the bad car is selected because the proper players voted evenly and the bad players voted together.

Continuing the metaphor what Goose is saying is that they deliver their votes so close to the deadline that the proper voters can't re-organise. Now imagine this on a massive scale with 30+ options and a few thousand players and you have a powerplay faction.

Edit Edit: I really hope this makes sense because I can't put it more clearly, it is a complex topic and it's late (at least where I am :p) but hopefully this works.

It makes sense alright. Plain and clear. But what's not (still) clear is the roots of this "columning" phrase/word-use - ED forum is the only place I've ever met it.

Ahh right. Now I understand the question that makes sense too. I guess I'm struggling a bit :p (As I say it's late here in the UK) :p

Yeah as above old war reference about a hidden force within an army/city/military usually behind enemy lines.

the columning comes for the 5th level of the tiers I believe. When you do this you automatically get to rank 5 because of all the money you spend on getting the merits to prepare. Not sure why the term "column" was used and not "tiering". Maybe it just roles off the tongue better.

Ah, as a column of troops. Better explanation if true

Of words 'column' and 'tier', the first is less tongue twisting.
