can we get more infos about 2.1?

I mean seriously, it's been almost 5 months now. Can we get some screenshots, videos, Q&A maybe? I don't know about you guys but I remember spending money on this "season pass" and so far I'm not really impressed. There hasn't been any interesting information what so ever in the past newsletters.

I may sound a bit impatient but in reality I am just as excited as those who bought horizon and I think it would fair to give us a little piece of the cake before the beta. That's the least you can do after you decided to push back the release date.

I understand the developers are hard at work and busy eating crumpets while coding all day long but is it too much to ask? I'm not talking about a single screenshot with the new 2 tabs bookmarks, I want to see those supposed "engineers" and the new crafting system. I'm not trying to sound disingenuous, I just would love to see more infos, mind you we paid for a year of content and 6 months seem to be a long way from getting anything worth while.

I want to see the important stuff that we paid for may I remind you.

The fact that they are re-factoring the news letter format, seems to indicate they are in it for a long haul, seeming to imply something is coming, that would not fit the current news format....more pictures or some such that would make it look messy on a mail? actually this news letter has made me quite curious.

In regards too next week they've only said that they a restructuring how things are being sent out. No "promises" about 2.1 news.

In the coming week's you'll be receiving emails about The Engineers, other game announcements, unique offers, and more which will come from a different address to the past Newsletters. They will be clearly identifiable as from Elite Dangerous but do look out for them as they may contain some extra surprises!

"In the coming weeks" might mean next week, but it could just as easily mean later.

That they are in for the long haul should be obvious, but still doesn't mean we'll get anything major next week.

Just to set expectations right...not that this is going to help... :p

I DO recommend watching the live streams with the devs they have been running the last couple of weeks. The main parts of these streams aren't that important for us who knows the game well, but the devs often comment how things work and how they want to improve these things going forward...with some of these changes coming in 2.1. Personally I'm really looking forward to next weeks live stream about the background sim. Just like the other streams we will probably get some further insight into what they want to improve going forward.

A bit of news on what's ahead, even in the form of simple teasers, would indeed be good.

There's no longer dev update, there's no longer the newsletter's sneak peak (which was THE reason why I used to wait in anticipation for the newsletter, now I mostly forget about them until I stumble on them in the forum).

5 months of near absolute silence.

I don't mind waiting longer for quality content, but I would like to have some bit of intel on what that quality content might be.

On the recent livestream about powerplay they said that there was one or two more and then the livestreams would focus on 2.1 content. So stay tuned there will be information in the next two weeks!

Also as above there's been news but as you say not too many details. A few bits of tidbits here and there, huge weapons, explosives overhaul, missions overhaul etc etc but nothing grouped together in one place.

well I want to believe you guys but I will when I see an official answer from the devs... this silence is really killing it for me.

Good luck. People always seem to expect Dev answers on a Friday night, I swear this is the third time it's happened... :D <- Joke, I know you'll be happy if it gets picked up next week or whatever, just wanted to say it.

The newsletter is Dev written so the line:
We understand you've been waiting with bated breath for more news on The Engineers and we can't wait to share with you all that will be coming in the second major expansion of Elite Dangerous: Horizons.
stands but if you are waiting for a response here you may be waiting a while.

The only other thing i'd add is that they don't give things away too much anymore like they did pre-launch in the DDF because people seem to take every single word they say as a promise and start making demands if they don't meet everything to the letter (see offline discussion for that particular gem). Since then news has been less clear and it's been stated many times that things are flexible... I suppose they also have to leave something for the beta testers to discover :p

On the whole I understand what your saying, I too am dying for more information on content, release dates, balance changes, remainder of the year's plans etc :) I just don't expect them to release it until they are ready due to the inevitable "brown object" storm should anything not be exactly as they said. Maybe I'm naive but I guess I'll stay subscribed and see if you get an answer.

Not quite what they said though... ;)

They said "and then...further down the line" they would start talking more about 2.1.

Could that mean 2 weeks from now? Yes, maybe, but not necessarily.

Still recommend people to watch the "Join the Elite" live streams if they are starved for info. A lot to get through, but there are some good stuff in there! :)

Ah... I heard it as Distant Worlds then another 1 or 2 other Thursday night Livestreams before they changed from "Everything you need to know about X" into engineers content... May have been wishful thinking on my part.

Personally I expect them to start opening up a bit more towards the end of the month so that estimate is IMO probably not to far of anyway. I just want to point out that nothing has been "promised" by FD themselves. ;)

Those rumours come from a fictional CMDR called CMDR Thrust. He is rumoured to have access to the updates 2 months before the beta testers.

I'm with you, this wait its pure torture with no info. I get that delays will happen, especially with a huge update like this, but some info would keep us more patient.

How will the crafting work? For example will a certain engineer be able to increase jump range on FSD? Or make modules lighter? Will I be able to increase firepower on weapons, or the firing rate ect.. any info would keep me satisfied, but it seems to have dried up and nothing new is coming in.
