Just a quick message to any of the DWE explorers who are trying to find a safe way home... iridium wing is ready and willing to escort you back to occupied space safely and free of charge. /r/iridiumwing on Reddit has more s does our website iridiumwing.space

This journey has been epic, emotional and much, much more than what should be rightfully expected from a gaming experience.
The reason for this wonderful experience was the community and it's many and varied contributors.
I hope you don't mind my mentioning a few?
Where would we be without the banging tunes from WASP RADIO? Thanks Olivia and crew.
Hi-ban an unsung hero for producing the DWE logo for which we should all be truly grateful. o7
Qohen Leth for the badges and posters, sir I love your work, just gutted I missed out on the real things.
Which brings me nicely onto all the merchandisers, got the t-shirt, mugs and badges but still waiting for my medallion.
Katajina for the most amazing Fleet Roster, so much effort put into allowing Cmdrs to learn a little about each others backgrounds
The Frawd Squad and their charge, Cmrd Frawd Digger, a giant of Distant Worlds despite being in the smallest ship. o7
Which leads me nicely onto the amazing and selfless Rock Rats and Fuel Rats. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
The Candy Crew, I was a mere Candy Crew Casual popping in whenever the fancy took me but I always felt welcome.
They were the craziest Cmdrs you could ever wish to meet and I'm sure they appreciate that comment.
The various streamers, thanks for entertaining us along the way.
The various video makers, especially Richard Anderson for putting my launch speech into film so brilliantly.
Then there is Erimus and Dr Kaii, giants whose wake we followed and are honoured to have the opportunity to do so.

We were told recently that exploration isn't dangerous. True explorers would disagree.

In the bubble you might have a few jumps before offloading cargo. But try exploring for 4 months and then running millions of credits worth of data, not to mention the knowledge that data brings, through 500ly's of space with each jump running the risk your structurally damaged ship might be interdicted and destroyed. We are brave, we risk everything in the pursuit of knowledge.

You Brave Explorers, I thank you all for allowing me to join you on this journey and I salute you, each and every one o7

This started with a small seed between Cmdrs J J Smashing Pumkins (Me), Voiddancer and Scout_des_Monates in a small instance 7-8 hours ago!

Helped along the way by Cmdr Melsh for refining the idea and about 10+ other Cmdrs including a ED Ambassador (Cheers Elan Solo!)

Our tribute to Distant World Explorers! This was achieved with few ship resources as many are heading home now!

Thanks Erimus and Dr. Kaii the community which you started has meant a lot to me these past couple of months! This is a few of us giving back some DW <3

I just wanted to thank all of the organizers for putting all of this together and helping so many of us venture out into the great unknown, and all those I've met along the way for their companionship and the interesting times, especially those of you who travelled in Open heading to Beagle Point. I hope you like the little tribute a group of us put together, posted above by Cmdr Jay Jay.

Well then, now that this Thread goes to its limits (is it?) and the official Distant Worlds week also ends, and before i start my Journey back, i really wanted to get some last words out.

Huge thanks to all the people involved in this Project:
- Erimus and Dr.Kaii for the organisation and preplaning of all this stuff, setting up anything, moderating, getting all these People (Frontier, Games-magazines, celebreties, etc.)
- The RockRats for all these hours of prospecting you did, you definetly helped a lot of people there!
- The FuelRats that were on our trip to help out stranded CMDRs and really gave me a good feeling when going through some of these fields with unscoopable stars!
- Olivia Vespera and all the people involved in our legendary WaspRadio, i definetly had some good hours with your music!
- All these guys who created and moderated our private groups, TS and Discord channels, Hi-Ban, who created our awesome DW-Logo
- Our Content-Creators that brought us some awesome pieces of art or just something to make us smile
- All the CMDRs i met and which i had good times with (I am not very good at social stuff and finding friendships, but the amount of people i met on this Expedition is awesome!)
- Especially the whole Frontier Dev-Team, that supportet us by restoring ships, SRVs, etc. and especially for the DW-decal and also the renaming of Beagle Point
- And also hese guys that i probably missed, sry for that, but your work is honored!

In any perspective, this here was the greatest and also most intense time i ever had with a video-game, never did i spend so much time on a single game, never did i plan my day in a way, so that i can get the most play-time out of it!
I have to admit, that i could have had it much easier, but after starting that Screenshot-series with the one of the earlier Nebula (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZg83cfQYHw) and got positive feedback i kinda forced myself into that whole thing and made a screeny before every jump to create some great "jump-lapses", which really cost me a lot of time - it was worth it in the end, even for reminding myself of all the different stages this expedition went through. The journey to the core with all these nebula on the way. Then the brightnes of the core itself, with the visit to the top of our galaxy, the way back into the brightnes again and then finally getting into the dark with a less and less visible Milkyway after each Waypoint... Something you don't really realize when you just fly it, but looking through all the screenshots really gives you a feel for perspective (btw, gonna get the last two parts of these videos ready soon (hopefully), so stay tuned ^^ )

Enough rambling from my side, gonna prepare my flight back now, takeoff will be tomorrow. Thanks again to you all for probably the best time i ever had (at least in gaming-perspective), i spent countless hours in this game, just because of this one Expedition.
I am confident, that we achieved something insane, we wrote history here, be proud of yourself, no matter how far you got!
Also, good luck to the slower part of our Fleet that will arive with the FGE, have a great time you hopefully never will forget. You might feel like the secondary Fleet, but you are still part of DistantWorlds 3302, so be proud of yourself!

God bless ya, have a good and succesfull journey back home!

I thought I need to head home now, so I set course and started away from BP straight into the direction of the bubble. After 300LY I had a strange feeling and a call from a cmdr still on BP... he asked me why I left already... so I stopped travelling, sat in front of a star for a while and looked into the flames... then I decided to go back and stay somewhat longer in that area and might take a tour to the Treehouse on Sunday. So greetings to all still staying on/around BP, enjoying the silence which coming back after all the busy days.

Well, I'm still hanging around until Sunday, from there, off to find a more Western Passage, and a windy Western path home.

It has been a Blast so far, CMDR's, though I won't be saying my good byes just yet, I'm sure a few of us will still be around for some final antics, perhaps final blast off vid on Sunday night.

Anyway, to all the wonderful folk that have kicked this off, helped it along, made it happen, and those that decided to turn up and tag along, you all made this what it ha sbecome, and...

It. Was. Awesome!

MY friends list is now bursting at the seems, and even now, I am adding new CMDR's, I look forward to a snapshot of the galaxy in about 2 weeks...

To all those departing, safe travels. To those hanging round, I think ther eis still plenty of fun to be had before we all part ways!!

Beagle Point is a very weird place. I thought for sure I was a goner on Tuesday:

I would have been bracing myself for the splash damage...

To DW organisers and FD a big thank you!

You have been an inspiration to me and many other cmdrs. I would like to thank everyone for such a great time and adventure.

I am a very shy person always played in solo but, DW has taught me that the is good people out there and we are a community and enthusiastic about Elite.

I have more friends than I need in Kamzel and I hope we all stick together, you a good bunch.

DW will leave a hole in my life but I am in no doubt it will be filled again. ;)

I am staying till Sunday and then am off round the clock on the arm we are in.

Again many gratitudes to everyone involved many, many thanks. [yesnod]

I will leave this song as I think its very appropriate to DW and Horizons.....................

o7 Cmdrs, until we meet again in the black.

Signing out Cmdr Johnny Concrete. ;)

Thought this was incredibly fitting to Distant Worlds.

Seeing as I will be starting my way back next week and the thread is closing soon I will take this opportunity to say a few words.

I would like to start by thanking the organisers and all the others that have helped with creating content and fun for all our fellow fleet members. Also to all in the fleet, you have all helped making this expedition totaly amazing for me I have had so much fun along the way with you guys! The meetups, events, crazy antics, the stories especially on voice comms (wich I have most recorded and could probably do one hell of a comedy show with when I think about it^^) and everything else have been great experiencing with you all!:)

Still have some things to look forward to on beagle though this weekend. Im aming to win the Candyball race ofc! Some tuff competition though so it is going to be intressting, make sure you all check it out on the diffrent streams that Im sure is gonna be there mine included:)

When I do set off Im gonna go to the west keeping pretty far out. Seemes like the least explored area to me so thought maybe I can help put something on the map;) Gonna be great seeing all the green icons spread all over the galaxy map for sure! And if a few of them are close by lets meet up again on a never before seen world, explore some together and talk about the wonders we have seen since last!

Will be at waypoint 24 and hoping to join DWE 2:)

Cmdr Rewision.

When I returned to beagle point last night from a pilgrimage to podar, I landed at an empty basecamp. Even though it might have been because of instancing, with the forum posts of commanders
stating they have left BP to set a course home in mind, this felt like a lonely place. So i sat there alone, looking around that place thinking of our fleet and how awesome you all where.
I'll stay at BP for one or two more days, perhaps I'm going to meet some commanders late to depart. o7

This also feels rather appropriate, given the musical mentions and the Sagan quotes :).

This has been, and continues to be a hell of an experience. I am currently meandering and trilaterating my way out towards the treehouse before swinging back.

After that, I'm on a promise to Cmdr Oldfart to trilaterate his abyss route, and a nice wandering route back intersecting the S-C westward stage, seeing if I can manage to synch up with an FGE waypoint or two, scouting one of the core sectors for Ghost Legion, then back ready to start the CNE expedition - I think this has hooked me on organised exploration, quite frankly.

Besides, 'for small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love'

I would like to add my voice to the chorus of thanks as this thread comes to a close, though Distant Worlds 3302 continues with the FGE fleet still making its way to Beagle Point, taking in and discovering new sights along the way. There are still people making the journey in Open or their own private groups whom I would like to encourage to persevere and reach Beagle Point and to return safely with great memories. It is possible to have an adventure without going exploring but it is not possible to go exploring without having an adventure. Distant Worlds has been a great adventure, without parallel in my experience of computer games, and it is the people on that adventure even more than the sights and the experiences that I have had that have helped to make it that.
.
My thanks to everyone involved in organising the expedition, especially Erimus and Dr. Kaii but many others also, to the Rock Rats and other groups that have sprung up around the expedition, to the creators of great artwork and videos to all the people taking part whether I met them or not (I might yet meet some of you on the way home) and to Frontier and Ed Lewis for being so supportive. Fly and drive safe!
