It's been quite a ride, hasn't it.. Still, looking forward to the way back, lots more exploration ahead on this trip. It does feel nice when the primary objective's been met, but I'm still not rushing back. It's nice out here

Congratulations on everyone who made it to Beagle Point and good luck for the voyage home. I'm proud to have been part of this expedition and even more proud that we got recognised by FD and actually rewarded in game! This is not something I am used to with the other games I play. Cheers for the work Erimus and co. put in, all the streamers and Olivia Vespera for the radio!
My galaxy map is going to look very interesting back in the bubble after the 57 new friends on my list as I am sure now I will never be more than 3/4 jumps away from someone doing missions. Now that we know something of this magnitude is very much of interest to the community, it makes the near future updates coming seem even more exciting....I can't wait to help Erimus pilot his ship on the next whirlwind adventure after the multi-crew update. Well, I've set off home yesterday, though it's going to be a long, slow trip I suspect. It's not going to be almost done in 24-hours deal like some people have heroically managed!
It's been a great experience, one of a handful of great computer gaming experiences I've had. Brilliant.

By day I meet usually a couple of commanders at the basecamp or surroundings.
Sometimes they are a bit far off hidden in a dark, deep crater. (probably sleeping)
Sometimes they drive only a bit in their SRVs or they simply hang out at the right coordinates.
But we are still here!
In the evening (IGT) there are more, up to ten I met yesterday.
Perhaps this evening you have to move some 2,500km towards the Candyball Canyons to see them.

What are the plans for the Kamzel group? Is it going to be left open as a kind of mobius for explorers/dw members, or is it getting closed once it's all over?
It's fast become my favourite group, I love seeing the galaxy map lit up with all those green friend icons

From April 10th it's going to be the dedicated explorers group linked to FleetComm, so anyone joining the Discord channel set up for Distant Worlds can gain access to Kamzel via FleetComm. 800 members and growing... Join details are on the Expedition Hub thread. Existing Kamzel members don't need to join FleetComm if they don't want to, but new Kamzel applicants do.
Basically it's to be a purely exploration orientated group, following möbius rules, and all existing members and new joiners will be invited to any future DW expeditions.
If you want to use Kamzel group to hang out in, treat everyone you encounter in there as an ally and fellow fleet member. Faction differences and game politics have no place within it so in that respect its a neutral group.
Aggressive behaviour against a fellow fleet member wont be tolerated and once removed from Kamzel and FleetComm, there are no invites back.
DWE worked so well because of the trust built up, so that is something I'll be working hard to maintain.

I wanted to thank you for all of the work you have put in to DWE.
I first read about DWE in a random gaming article sometime in January, right around the time everyone first set off. I knew nothing of ED at that point, this was the first I heard of it. I had no idea of the massive scope of this tremendous undertaking, I just thought that it was cool there was a game where you could explore a full size generated version of The Milky Way Galaxy. It also seemed really awesome to me that there was a whole community of people from all over the world that were going to undertake this epic journey together.
I started playing the game on 01 FEB and was cautioned right away that the learning curve was pretty steep, but I picked it up pretty fast, at least I felt like I did. I made a few test forays outside of the bubble once I had saved up enough for an Asp and semi equipped it for deep exploration.
I set off after you guys on Feb 29th, plunging headlong in to the unknown(well known by you since some of you have already been there, but unknown by a lot of others) I never dreamed back in January reading about you guys that at some point I would follow you. Even when I set out, I was not sure that I would have what it takes to get there.
When I finally reached Sag A, I was very weary At First I wasn't sure I was going to keep going. I'm sure you remember what it was like the first time you beheld that dark heart of our galaxy. I knew at that time staring in to her silent majesty Our Lady Of The Void, that I would stay the course. I have read what people have said about BP and I decided that I have to see for myself. I have to KNOW.
I pressed on, exploring as I went and taking many, many pictures. I resisted the urge to catch up, to buckyball it. I kept telling myself the name of this expedition is Distant WORLDS, not Distant FLEET. Still, by the time I got to WP 18, I knew I was getting close. After falling in to a never ending black hole trap for a couple days, I decided to just abandon all exploration and rush to the fleet as fast as I could. I buckyballed the last 12 kylies and arrived just in time for the meetup at WP 21.
Along the way somewhere, I met some really amazing people who were also trying to catch up. We kept each other going, and after catching up I met many many more amazing like minded explorers. I am sad that I missed the first 20 WPs, if the last 3 WP are any indication of the camaraderie, the shenanigans, the fellowship, then I know I missed out on quite a bit. Still for this lonely, introverted explorer, it was just enough.
I have been in love with outer space and all things contained in it since I was a small child and this is by far the greatest gaming experience of my life. I know that I plan on being part of any community type expeditions in the future, and I look forward to being an active and involved member of the Exploration Community both in game and on the forums for a long time to come.
I just wanted you to know how much everyone in the fleet has changed my life, some random guy that none of you knew. This has truly been more than dream come true to explore the galaxy, with more than just a cheap crappy telescope that is all I can afford. I visit these worlds in my dreams, this game is a dream come to life. I thought that doing this thing would burn me out on the game, but the opposite is true. It has lit my imagination on fire. It has expanded my knowledge and love for astronomy. It has introduced me to new people who share similar interests. It has driven me mad, and kept me sane.
I have not left BP yet, I am finding it hard to leave behind. I know I will, eventually, and when I do I will explore as much as I can on the way home too. I look forward to tracking my massive friends list(and growing) as it makes it's way back home.

I'm actually still fighting the Abyss. I took Route 33 a bit over halfway through, thought I was far enough to go my own way at that point, and after hitting too many low density areas and getting stuck several times by empty space, I'm now backtracking my way back to Route 33, LOL!!!!
I should get across it today though.
