But seriously. ASP hasn't got strong shields and if you haven't got 4 to shields then you obviously gonna get bursted down pretty fast.

The Asp is not a very good "penetrator" of pirate infested areas..
Its not very fast, most pirate ships will outrun an Asp easily.
Its shields are bad, not much margin for error.
Its easily mass-locked.
Not very good at dodging incoming fire.
Its a bit big and has a bulky shape, making it easy to hit.
Its armour is not so bad though, especially if you use reinforced or military armor.
Summing it up:
Running in a straight line in a not so fast ship which is a big target and has weak shields is like riding a fat cow running from hungry lions.
Best way to use this kind of ship in a "hot" CG is avoiding being interdicted in the first place. Fly defensively.
Avoid the direct route, fly away as soon as you drop to pick up speed and later turn to the station, approaching the station from the opposite side of the star is best.
If someone is lining behind you, do an emergency drop, boost away for a bit, then go cold in case someone follows your wake looking for you. Mind your scanners at all times. In doubt, drop to normal space. Wait for a while before re-engaging supercruise. Pirates sometimes wait in SC for you to come back.
When reaching the station, when there are only 7mm left, set thrusters to full and prepare to drop.
Also remember that like in nature, you don't have to be able to outrun the lion. You just have to outrun at least one of the other prey. What this means, is make yourself more trouble to catch than what you're worth, and predators will run after other preys instead.
