After Elite - Elite 1st Dan...2nd Dan... ??

Hi,

Been Elite for nearly a year now, still love exploring but can't help think that all that experience could be shown along with my rank.
So I wonder what your thoughts are on a system similar to Dan - as in Karate Black belt for example


Elite 1st Dan
Elite 2nd Dan
Elite 3rd Dan
and so on...

The Decal could have a number or just a number of lines at the bottom - III = 3rd Dan

What are your thoughts?

Are FD already considering a system?

What'd like is to have your rank and stuff reflected on a uniform, like way back in XWing. That'd be awesome.

Congrats on the no life comment - Thought it would take at least a page before that popped up lol
This game is a 10 year project, sensible play during that time should see most players round the clock a few times.

Or next rank might be: Elite of Elites. It would require 10X more times longer than reaching Elite rank.

I like the idea that Elite is the highest rank attainable.. but would like to see Elite societies or factions introduced..

Edit: Elite factions or societies for each of the career paths could offer their own missions and internal ranking.

Reminds me of CoD and prestige ranks. (That's a no btw - I don't think ED needs more ratings other than a piracy one)

No idea if FD are thinking about it - they haven't said that I know of.

Nice idea - gets my vote, even though I am a long long away from being Elite in anything, I can understand the slight frustration having reached all three Elites. (Four counting CQC.)

Maybe a system like medals, e.g. Elite with 1 - 3 bars. Then three bars gets you a bronze laurels, 3 more bars to silver and such like.

Rank means nothing to me,
so i don't really bother if elite is the end or not.
In the end, i'd love to be able to mess around with my rating shown
to have CMDRs think of me as easy prey by displaying lower ranking.

I don't even know how happy I'd be being "Elite". Sure, I'd get the reward for having maxxed the game but I think I'd rather forever be a "Ranger" or something that reflects my preferred role.
Might be nice to access a list of titles when you max out one of the ranks...same goes for Power ranks.

I'd like to see something like this, excuse the format but really trying to avoid a wall of text :)

Elite societies and factions (groups)..


Dark Wheel, Federation of Elite Pilots and INRA already in lore, Dark Wheel already in game faction..
Elite Trade Federation & Elite Exploration Society could be added..
Possibly multiple competing Elite groups for each profession..


Membership of group could be visible to all through hud (as with powerplay pledge) and/or ship decal, or covert or, only visible to other group members..


Invitation to a group triggered after reaching Elite in one or maybe a combination of professions..


Trigger for combat groups could be Elite in combat and CQC..
Trade & exploration requirement a certain threshhold above original Elite requirement (double maybe)..



Missions and internal ranking for each group..


Groups have own mission givers and bulletin boards only visible to members..



Winged missions and inter group missions..


Mission for 2 or more CMDR's, on accepting will be told to await further details..
when requisite number of pilots have also accepted RV is communicated where mission giver will appear..
Mission could be for pilots of the same group or co-op between 2 groups..


Combat Elite group pilot may be asked to provide escorts for trade/exploration group members carrying important cargo/data specific to their own mission..
INRA may require large quantiy of *ahem* tea delivered to a specific station..
Elite Trade Federation may require exploration data from a certain sector delivered to a specific station within x amount of days/weeks/months..

Not sure how plausible/possible all/any of this is but would prefer to see something along these lines as opposed to just "prestige" ranks..

For my part I hope Frontier re-thinks all the Ranks.
Especially the navy ones.

But, to have an Elite 2,3, 4 and so on; cool by me.
Several will get to Elite, and would want to show off further improvement.

I wish I never mentioned Dan now!

I'm not bothered about the COD prestige stuff (also found in Elite Arena BTW) it's more a case of showing me how much I've explored I guess, by the time I get back from distant worlds I could well make Elite x2 by now. What I suggest offers nothing more than a way to show how seasoned you are I guess.

In 5 years time if nothing changes then all players that started with ED from the beginning will be triple elite, which kinda makes the rank Elite VERY common. Which takes the shine off the whole point, also in the original 1984 Game Elite was far harder to reach.
