[Distant Worlds] Heading home but first building a jumponium base for the Western passage

Heads up.

Now that the Distant Worlds expedition is over lots of people are heading home. I thought of just taking the Eastern route back like most and scan my way through interesting materials.

But I'm a Rock Rat and at the same time.. I got bitten by the Explorer bug the last few days. Reading up on the planet sound guide, on the new guide how to make credits exploring, on the Treehouse invitation, on the new expeditions, and then the famous route 33 for those who want to try a different route, and the western passage that some people try to explore, some say you need high range conda's for it.

The truth is: nobody knows for sure. We might get surprised. But fear works against us. Being stuck without jump boosts is easy if you take to much risks. You need a lot of boost materials if you want to try it. But we have no jumponium bases in the west. It would save us a lot of problems if you have the certainty of green systems nearby your starting point of heading into western unknown passages.

So suddenly found a new mission to work on: find some green systems as west as possible for a standard route by a 34ly ASP. And it turns out I'm not the only Rock Rat that likes this idea.. some other seasoned rock rats are jumping on the idea maybe as well ? ;) So what does that mean ?

It means we expect stocking up on J3s up front might just not be enough to make it. Instead we make a jumponium bridge in the western passage itself, making it mandatory to do in-between stops to refill the J2/3s. At the same time, it nearly guarantees there is one or more paths through the west that are not discovered.

Personally I'm not going to be back in the bubble for months. I don't mind exploring the west, scanning interesting systems, and .. prospecting them.

Will keep you updated on jump info.

Count me in Baroness!
I'm after you and will soon have cought up!
Prospecting in a wing is better anyways! ;)

Cheers,

I crossed the Abyss out of Beagle using Route 33, and after that I turned The Amity "westward" and am now zig zagging my way down the end of the Scutum Centaurus Arm (haven't gotten far yet!), skirting along the Abyssal Plain now and then, just generally exploring, sightseeing, trilaterating, but also keeping an eye out for interesting POI's or systems, and especially systems with lots of good landables to explore. I'd like to find a few green systems in this bleak area if I can. So far there seem to be an awful lot of brown dwarfs and just generally crappy systems, the Abyssal Plain itself is very sparse of scoopables and flying into it requires caution to not get stranded in it.

Glad to see a few others will be venturing into this area too. :)

One system that I'm considering submitting to the Community Mapping Project not [that] far from the end of route 33 is BLEAE BRIAE JC-M C7-21. This is a system notable for its binary pair of Ammonia Worlds but it may also be of interest to prospectors. The innermost two worlds are a metal-rich binary pair of landables and the next few planets out are high metal content landables. There are also two rocky landables that are moons farther out in the system but the secondary star only has one landable (it was a long way out so I didn't check the type, possibly icy).

You know, I'm on the southern edge of the Abyssal Plains along the northern edge of the Scutum Centaurus Arm, and a couple thousand light years west of Beagle. I wonder if it would do any good for me to work my way up and towards you Baroness from across the plains? Are you trying to come out at a general or specific point, or just anywhere the route leads west of the 0° vertical meridian?

As mentioned last night - I'm heading back towards the Abyss and going to start mapping the area around the Zero meridian - I'll also be doing a bit of prospecting to find "filling stations" as well.
