What is wrong with Obsidian Orbital? I just flew out to Obsidian Orbital and I carried a few rares with me but Obsidian would only pay exactly what I paid for them. No profit or loss! But Darnielle's Progress paid correct prices?

Tiny population (25,000) - a tonne of Lavian Brandy probably lasts them most of a year and easier to trade it within the bubble than from Maia back to it so no reverse trade appeal

Is that so? Afaik the sell price of rare goods only depends on the distance, and nothing else.
do you use EDMC? if yes, you probably experience this known EDMC bug with rares: https://github.com/Marginal/EDMarketConnector/wiki/Troubleshooting#rares-profits-wiped-out
That's what I thought but if you pick the wrong place even far away they just don't care. I had a fair few "what huh why don't you want these lovely things?" moments after a few of my runs - I was doing it by hand though not to specific trading posts so just got it wrong now and then I guess. I think it was mostly low population or purely industrial kinds of places, selling to high pop and wealthy high tech/tourism places was a surefire hit by comparison occasionally within very short ranges, I hauled one load of fancypants beer halfway across the bubble to get the same price I'd been offered five systems away
That might be the problem. I don't usually trade in rares so haven't had this experience before. I use TCE with EMDC linked to it and it is quite possible I hit the connect / update before I went to sell the rares. When I went to Darnielle's Progress I was more concerned about the rares prices than I was with updating my database
The strange thing was that I about 30 something rares in total of about nine different types and they were all exactly the same price as I bought them.Hmmmm I can't rep you as it seems I have to share some around. Have some virtual rep instead
