Live Twitch Feed 2nd May - Compiled list of answers

Hi all,

I thought it might me useful if no-one else has done it yet to compile up all the list of Questions answered during the twitch feed yesterday (2nd May).

I've done my best to summarise them all, so should act as a useful quick list of statements and facts gleaned from the live feed. Enjoy :

  • Most ships can be adapted for a mining role.
  • A.I.'s will be capable of piracy
  • Aim to get procedurally generated backgrounds in for Alpha 4.
  • Targeting Cargo Sub-Systems with MultiCannons rather than Lasers generally drops more canisters
  • First pass at a hyperspace effect for Alpha 4 rather than a spinning ship.
  • Colonisation of new systems/allegiances will be designed by FD. Player activity in those new regions can have an effect.
  • New player Matchmaking system for later Beta phases will ensure friends get put together on the same server rather than randomly be separated.
  • E : D will encourage you to build a list of "contacts" which allow you to complete certain tasks, like sell specific items on the black market.
  • You will be given some low level contacts at the start of the game. Missions can generate new contacts.
  • Contacts might be able to be introduced between players. [Not finalised as a feature]
  • Economies are processed in the background that is influenced by Supply and Demand. Player trading has an additional "weight" applied to it that can affect market prices.
  • Anaconda will be flyable. Eagle will be available. Type 9 too. Total of 5 ships to play.
  • "Inflatable Stations" will not be controllable by players for the initial release. Larger ships that act as stations can be deployed to allow longer range exploration
  • Automatic repair bots and nano technology fitted to ships can aid in field repairs.
  • No in games comms initially.
  • Intent to make hyperspace seamless. Length of sequence will be determined in play. Better Hyperspace modules can be purchased to reduce wait time.
  • Kick-starter campaign indicated starting out as an Imperial Eagle starting point. Federation Eagle was announced later Investigating possibility of both.
  • Beta time period will be an extended process over Alpha.
  • 2 Federation Worlds, An independent world and a Anarchy world.
  • Most of the backers stars and system names will be in in the Alpha 4 maps.
  • No backers space stations at this stage. Map you will interact with is at system level only. Lower level detail will be added throughout the beta.
  • New E : D Thargoids will look to retain some elements of design for older looks (eg octagonal shape)
  • Contact Binaries will be implemented.
  • Mining and trading will be core ways of making a living. Construction not on at this stage.
  • No new space stations for Alpha 4, but there will be factional differences between the coriolis stations.

Anaconda will be flyable. Eagle will be available. Type 9 too. Total of 5 ships to play.

Is this in Alpha 4? Sorry, not had a chance to see the second stream, I'm waiting for it to reach YouTube so I can watch on my TV. So context is missing.

That was my interpretation also. Alpha was about test the various gameplay elements and Beta would seem to be more about how those elements work together as a whole. More players will also mean more bug reports to FD as the game is tested out on many new configurations of systems and hopefully a better and more stable product at the end of it.
