Braben......you cheeky monkey!!

Ok so who else is excited about Davids little white lie re the background being static. What a surprise to hear every star will be moving, talk about depth of vision!! Wonder how bad fps will suffer? Not too worked with my 780 ti!!

This.

Currently single GTX 780ti should provide about 140fps during combat in FFA, 70-100fps at the station.

Take into account that the game is not optimized.

Yes Michael said that the game should be optimized, and certainly the matérial specifications defined for the alpha would be lowered for the future

My laptop is all I have and the Alpha seems to run fine at 19 FPS according to FRAPS so with more optimisation it will be fine.

Yes we must relativize the notion of processing power. Frontier will do its best to ensure that everyone can play ED. However, the planetary landings will be more greedy ?

We can't know until planetary landings are released. High end GPUs provide at least 40-50fps in open areas in Crysis 3 @1920x1080.

That will just be a matter of turning the details down on a lower end PC, it may not look as pretty but it will be playable I should think.

19 FPS?? That's a bit low to be honest. Originally my only option was to play on a laptop, but upgraded as I just couldn't bare it. I have recently tried ED on my i7 laptop and it just runs it with graphics settings on low. It still puts out a worrying amount of heat and has a really noisy fan. No thanks.

19fps would be usable though, even if it isn't optimal.

Heat output really tends to depend upon the design of the laptop. So some people may be totally fine there.

When I have fps drop to about 30 due to lags the game becomes pretty much unplayable to me. Sure it is possible to fly, engage combat but it is much lower then my standard of gameplay.

Yes, I agree with that. I prefer playing at 60fps or as close to it as I can.

But if I happen to be playing on a back-up PC or a laptop, then I will accept 20fps or so (depending on game obviously).
