We looked at Mercury, saw how big the sun looked from its orbit, went to Venus, which he knows is very hot. We read all the info on various planets on the system map, etc.

Then I went to Mars High, accidentally stuffed the ship into a wall and exploded.

Proper belly laughing, he was. I think we have an Elite: Dangerous convert, lads

I tried to get my cat playing ED. He was more interested in sinking his claws in my leg.

No but seriously it's fun to see such young ones to be into that kind of stuff. When i was his age i was all over the dinosaurs. Then came the universe. After learning our solar system in and out i went further into the void.

Then my head exploded.:D

It really is great to get kids into astronomy and the suchlike, what better way to introduce them to it than ED.

They should have it in every school, just like Elite was on every BBC Micro....:D.

Haven't you had enough time to learn how to dock in the training missions while exploring?
Nice, my son did a Primary School project on the Solar System after Christmas and so I took him to Sol and he flew around the planets and loved it.

Not to derail this but can we just notice that Gary came in for this but ignored the piracy thread? This alone ain't definitive proof but it ain't the first time.. [rolleyes]

Very nice, but i hope you told him that mars looks a little bit different in reality :)
Btw. haven't visited the solar system in a long while, is there deimos and phobos?

I was amazed to discover how HUUUGE our system is compared to the average star system.

Don't forget to visit Ariel (Uranus' moon)!

Oh and besides. PLUTO IS STILL A PLANET. I DON'T CARE WHAT OTHERS SAY PERIOD...[big grin]

If Pluto is a planet, then we would end up with dozens of planets. There are plenty of objects in the Kuiper belt bigger.

A planet has to be round (pluto is) and also be able to clear its environs of other objects. Pluto fails on the second.

I thought Pluto was a strange looking dog?....

Wow.. how nice to see a thread start positive and "stay" positive... I was completely expecting... "then we came across this commander who for no reason..." LOL

Seriously I would love to see more postings like this. :)

He was a bit confused and annoyed that Mars wasn't red, actually

I was too the first time i went to Mars.. lol

OT: very cool Bongo, i did pretty much the same thing with my son, though he is somewhat younger.. He was mind blow that Earth looked liked a ball.. lol.. (he's only 4)
