Ships Which ships do you expect to see during season 2?

I think OP is pretty realistic in his expectations. Personally I don't care much about Belugas or other sea mammals in my snake pit (which doesn't mean I don't want them in the game, I just don't look forward to buying them myself). The ships I hope most for (Krait, Boa, Moray Starboat) probably won't be this season. The Moray I don't even expect to see until we can "land" on water planets in some future season.

I want to see a ship that can open up and eat other ships, in the vein of the Liparus from The Spy Who Loved Me. Then when an NPC Eagle tries to pirate it you can just go ahead and eat the NPC. Maybe turn the Eagle into Jumponium or something with an internal system. Nice.

We want to see Aliens, not more ships.

Speak for yourself. We need more ships. Specifically, more exploration ships. There are only 2 real options right now for spending weeks to months out in the black. More options in that area would give us more opportunity to find the aliens :)

Agreed. I hope to be out exploring in the next couple of months and going by the hints by the Devs, it's going to be dangerous out there. Which means shields and weapons. This limits the choice even further in my opinion. I would have liked to take the Diamondback Explorer, but lack of internal slots rules it out in my mind. This for example, has no AFMU.

Proposed DE loadout

Well I've been out there whit DBE whit shield but didn't take AFMU and went till 58000ly whitout took any damage so I don't think so u need that but because of the limitations in internals Fuel Scooping was a pain in a**!
By myself as well hoping more explorer ships but don't forget jump range not everything after 1000 -1500 ly u can easily found stars which hasn't been scanned yet.the reason behind that everyone rushing into Deep space so they left out a lots of system/stars and I mean that.my closest scan was 1245ly from the bubble made at October so not just jump range matter like I made a Explorer Phyton which has a range of 549 ly whitout scooping but jump range was only 22ly.(far enough for most of the stars except if u want to go on the edge)

Panther Clipper is so mine when it comes. Just pondering the cost.. What would people think, 150 mil creds?

Well, if it can transport something like 1000 tons and is tough target to kill quickly unlike T9 and especially T7... I could foresee it being fairly expensive. At the moment, biggest combat ships cost roughly ~190 mils. Well, I´m calling Cutter a combat ship, which isn´t exactly true but there you have it. I would expect price of max 200 millions, unless it can carry significantly more than 1000 tons. At 2000 tons I wouldn´t be surprised if it cost 500 mil to get just the hull and basic E fit.

I'd really like to see this variant of the FdL (from the concept art):

What would be the jumprange?10-12 ly or less??

What we need is more cool running long jumpers - atm it's either Conda, Asp or "you went there in what?"

Imperial Explorer. Roughly 60-70% clipper size. Jump range comparable to Conda. One can dream...

Yes, we really do need more choices for exploration. But I don't expect to see this huge gap addressed during Season 2, or anytime soon for that matter. Exploration just doesn't seem to be a priority for FDev, I mean they still believe that the DBE is a good explorer (small scoop and lack of internals says otherwise). Maybe now that Ed Lewis flew out to Beagle for the DWE we'll see some developer action on this matter? :S

So, what ships do I expect to see yet in season 2? More combat ships, of course....[sad]

The range of the old Panther was just over 8 ly. So if they stay true to form, they will probably give any new one a similar range, which would not be enough in my view. Unless of course we can tweak our engines into double figures with the help of The Engineers. Personally, I'm not interested in wasting time, driving around on the surface, hoping to find some magical ingredient to 'enhance' the fuel. The Engineers will have the answer, or if not, I shan't bother with it.

With the passenger missions and ships, eventually, do we get another rank to stand next to Combat/Explo/Trading/CQC? "Tourist Guide"? :D

I still want the Moray to be the next explorer... maybe with atmo landings since it's a space-worthy submarine... it could make for ossum funs

Absolutely. Since ED launched I have wanted to fly a Starboat down to a water world and go exploring the deep :D

Yeah i guess 8ly wouldn't be enough for anything to do AKA corvette....that's the reason why I'm not going for it and so T9 has around 11ly so I guess it will be pretty similar or around but 8 is just plain ridiculous....I think better off with IC!
