Small ship flight model buff!

From today's newsletter:

For those using smaller ships, in particular the Sidewinder, Faulcon de Lacey have introduced performance enhanced size 2 and 3 drives. Incredible fun for racing, they also give Commanders an extra bit of zip that can make all the difference in a dangerous encounter.

For those wondering, these are the ships that use class 2 or 3 drives:

Adder
Eagle
Hauler
Imperial Courier
Imperial Eagle
Sidewinder
Viper Mk III

Personally I'm super hyped for this. Noobs will have an easier time evading griefers and iconic ships like the Viper and Eagle may be more viable and fly as good as they sound!

I am really looking forward to this, I love my Viper III, and I very often use it, along with my Eagle, my Sidewinder, and the occasional Imperial Eagle. Depending on how it works out, it might even get me into an Adder!

Oooh, forgot about the Viper III. I switched into mine a few months back just to A-rate it (couldn't afford it way back when) and forgot how nice and fast it feels, I think it's still the fastest ship (non boosting). With a bit of a thrust buff, it could give the Cobra a run for its money.

But it only mentions Faulcon de Lacey, so will it affect the Adder, etc which are not manufactured by Faulcon de Lacey?

This change should put the iCourier well ahead of the Cobra, and probably the iClipper. The Viper's non boost speed will be pretty high too I bet. I still fly my beauties and this change just makes me want to fly them even more. :)

I know the article says drives, but do they mean thrusters?

I assume they mean 'normal flight forward propulsion'.

an extra bit of zip that can make all the difference in a dangerous encounter.

The above wouldn't make sense if they were talking about FSDs, unless they're REALLY spicing up supercruise! I'd guess they say drive instead of thrusters to indicate it's a speed buff rather than an overall manoeuvring thruster boost, which would be buffing agility.

Drive=thrusters, unless specified as FSD. See other contacts subsystems

I assume that considering that thrusters are modular and swappable between ships, it's referring to them as the thruster manufacturer rather than ship manufacturer?

I think one of the devs mention in the newsletter thread they're available to all vessels that can fit them.

From that thread:

I believe that any ship that can use those drive sizes can benefit.

Apparently only Faulcon de Lacey ships... or they're saving the rest for the next newletter :D

When I started reading my beloved old Adder immediately came to my mind, maybe next time...
