[Distant Worlds] Feedback, thanks and tips for those yet to dock

Hi Commanders,

Feedback
I am so glad I took part in this excellent trip, I don't have a lot of spare time and knew what a time sink this trip would be. That said I put the stick in my mouth and bit hard (Especially for the return home!) :)
The result was an exploration experience like no other and I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with fellow explorers.
Thanks
I would like to thank every commander for making this trip so enjoyable and of course the organisers for the effort they put in and the well planned stopping points.

For those that are wondering how much I was paid in data... I was hoping with very little scanning that I could reach 50 Million, well to my surprise I ended up collecting 95 Million, with a 2 million bill for hull integrity / repairs. More importantly (for me) I did manage to tag a few planetary nebula and some awesome sights.

Tips
Salvage SS in supercruise starts around 5k from bubble (Thought it was a UFO at first!) :D
800ly from bubble, power up / repair all modules and weapons (if you have any) before you plot your destination dock
Remember to plot your route to the dock in the system map so you don't have to faff about once in system.
Once you reach your chosen dock remember to ask permission to land!
Don't rush your landing and get that gear down!
Get a drink, some food and snacks and sit back and sell your data(Took me 2 hours), keep an eye out for big systems >250,000 credits take a screen shot of values to reference later.
Spread the love, if you want to increase your rep with all the major factions then sell in 20 million chunks to each and you will be loved back by all :)

Thats it!

Thank you again and maybe see you on the next big trip

I'm putting my 95 million towards a power plant

For what we have done I would expect the station to send out a flotilla and be towed in amongst rapturous applause, bands, bunting, dancing girls and free flowing alcohol.

I think that comes in the 2.4 'secret expansion' along with the Thargoids! :D

Couldn't resist :p

I've taken a docking computer just for that purpose. Although my hand will be very much on the stick for any potential mishaps :p

Also Congrats on making it back and the data :D

It only takes 6-7MCr to get Allied status with a controlling faction. If you spread the love across a number of systems then you can improve your standing with the major factions.
I actually used the improvement in reputation to gain access to a number of permit locked systems.

Glad to read you made it back safely!
I was following fairly close behind and could see you approaching the bubble on the Galmap but I stopped to visit several nebulae and scan the odd system with something interesting. At least we took different paths back so I know you won't have claimed first discovery on the Earth-like binary I found in Juemee sector ;)
.
Completely agree with your tips - I'm going to need to spend a while trading to get used to docking again. I was wobbling all over the place lining up for the docking bay in my Asp. I've never used a docking computer in this game but I'm putting one on my Anaconda if I ever take her on a long trip. The current Buckyball Racing Club event may also help me recover my docking skills... . I chose a station less than 7Ls from the entry point to minimise the chances of my being interdicted (in a high-tech system that I expected to have decent outfitting, so I could prepare my Asp to travel the bubble handing out data).
.
Also followed your advice to spread the data around. Exploration data does not add to your naval rank, unfortunately, but gets you rep with minor and major factions: I allied myself with a handful of Imperial factions on the frontier so this will help get me good missions from them to help increase my rank. I also finally got myself to allied status with the Alliance and several independent factions, including The Children of Raxxla and The Dark Wheel, and boosted the influence of my Fed 'home' faction, which had dropped a bit in my absence. Three months+ worth of exploration data can go a long way!
