Summary of tonight's ED On the Horizion/Engineers Beta Part 1 stream

They also told a somethings will be removed. What was that?

Just before release of elite dangerous (back in December 2014) there were versions of current weapons that were better than those standard once you can buy now. They were quit rare and expensive but better versions of existing weapons. They removed them and said that they don't want to do those that way. You couldn't buy those weapons anymore, but if you had one installed on your ship you could keep them. Some players still have those. So they said that those will be removed completely from game, so those who still have them installed will lose them.

Yep, but we can't land on them. I can only.hope.

Sure, but I saw plenty of people in the Twitch chat being excited about the "new planet" in the video and it isn't new...that particular one even has atmosphere. ;)

Now...it IS possible that FD might be a little bit sneaky by having that particular planet type in the background as a way of hinting something, but I wouldn't read too much into it.

Not that I would complain if that came along in 2.1, but I don't think it's reasonable to expect it quite yet. Rather something we will see towards the end of the year. Unless they fast tracked it...we'll see.

Yeah I know. Just wishful thinking.

"Natural POIs can be found. Screenshot shown of crashed vessel on planet."

Huh? Unless i misunderstood it, crashed vessel doesn't sound like natural POI to me.

  • Missions - more details coming. Navy missions revamp (more a career), its coming but not for 2.1/1.6
  • Missions - successful completions will build relationship with factions and will introduce you to higher people with that faction. Your rank will be taken into account when dealing with faction representatives. So they may look up/look down on you.
This stuff is very high on my wish list. Love it!

Sounds good! Roll on beta I'd say.

Still hoping that they find a way to make the system states something that you actually see while travelling.

When you enter a place that is in civil war or has starvation IRL it's immediately clear that something is going on.
In ED at the moment you have to actually dock and look at the news to see what's happening.
Most of the civil war and starvation will probably be taking place inside the stations and on planets, but still it'd be good to actually have some visual clues of the states.

I wonder if the unannounced feature is volcanic planets. The background in the planet looked amazing which was a volcanic planet. Could be too early though.

Ugh, I hadn't notice the lava planet in the background's detail, looks fantastic. :)

Cant say I am a fan of the recoiling beam laser.

Other than that, it looks awesome and I like the quad mount Firing in sequence, but Recoil on a Laser?
Especially when the recoil is out of sequence with the firing

Indeed, not sure what's going on there.

Agreed. The animation is cool, if it was firing something else, but it looks weird on a laser, best just turning it off, imo.

Did they say if the AI will actually get affected by thermal levels now because currently they don't seem to and if they don't that thermal laser seems a bit broken PVE wise.
