A Corvette walks into a HAS Res ...

Thought I'd start the title out like a "walks into a bar" joke, but there's no a punch line unless you consider the punch of the clean Cobra which flew out of nowhere head long into my Corvette as I was boosting in a HAS Res.

What happened next surprised me. The fact that I was instantly wanted for murder with a 30,000 CR fine when the Cobra exploded was surprising. I'm pretty sure I wasn't even firing at the time let alone in the Cobra's direction.

It happened in the Phaigre system where two of the current CGs are happening so I'm kind bummed about it.

As a result, I have a question for anyone who can answer. I'm very good at evading being scanned from much smuggling, but usually I try not to be wanted in the system where I'm smuggling. If I go back to Phaigre, Greeboski's Outpost, am NOT successful in evading the scan, then security starts firing on me and I get into the station, will the station commence firing on me or will I be ok until I leave? I've never seen that happen but I don't want to learn the hard way.

No issue with that in a hazres unless from other players...and as for landing. Well, I mean if you are in a Vette and can not boost into a station before being scanned then I do not know what to say other then practice a bit more.

TLDR, nothing to be worried about. Even if the station did fire on you. Just put everything into SYS and fly away.

Crusina, that wasn't actually that helpful of a response. I obviously know everything you just told me because I've been in the game long enough to be flying a Vette ... and you didn't answer the question.

Does anyone have an actual answer or do people just want to belittle my question like Crusina just did? If it's the latter don't bother responding please.

Thanks for the idea Warmaster! I considered that, but it would require me to fly to fly all over the bubble collecting various bounties I don't want to loose. I may still do that yet, but was hoping I could get an answer to this before I made that choice. +rep for the constructive answer.

Gives me an idea. If I want to slow down someone participating in cg all I need is to suicide on their hull in an unshielded sidewinder. They either cope with a week of bounty or have to go suisidey themselves.

Exploit? Kind of. Might bring the issue to the attention of devs though.

I'm not one to do that but I will throw the idea out there knowing that some of the people on these forums are evil trolls.

I have had to do this in a Conda.... sneak, if you can call it that, into a space station while having roughly a 1,000,000 credit bounty on my head. I guess they dont much appreciate it when you hang out at the nav beacon and kill everything. The trick is to make sure that the security ships do not spot you. If they do they will have backup on top of you so fast that you will hardly get a chance to make your landing approach. Heat sinks may help here, but do not go into silent running mode. You need your shields here. If they do spot you then put 4 pips to Engines, 2 pips to SYS and get the hell out of there. Then try again. The station itself will not open fire on you just because you request landing permission with a bounty on your head. If you open fire on the security ships then expect retaliation from the station. If security ships open fire on you and you do not retaliate, then I am not sure if the station will join in their attack. I dont think that it will, but not 100% sure.

Shame on you Argent for even thinking of that evil exploit! ;) Next we we'll be hearing about the rise of kamikaze death groups.

Thanks DK, your thinking is exactly in line with what I've experienced, but like you, I don't know that answer to your last sentence.

or you can wait out the bounty until it turns into a legacy fine and THEN go back and pay it off..

But to answer your original q, YES as soon as security detects your wanted status in the staion instance, the station WILL open fire on you and will continue even if you;re in the docking bay until you either clear its range or die.

DING DING DING! Looks like we may have the answer to the question which Dave gave in the second part of the above answer! Thanks DaveB!

Based on this, I think my course of action will be to go around the bubble cashing in all the bounties I value and selling any exploration data before I try anything. I'll also fly to station in a small ship and have fun testing this.

Thanks everyone!

Tried that once; was wanted (not that unusual for me), got scanned on the way in the station, thought "yeah, I'm fine", 1 second later all hell breaks loose, landing permission denied, station starts firing at me inside station. Dang!, full battle style 180 in my Anaconda, hit boost for fast exit. Intense seconds, that was.

Now I pay more attention when entering with Wanted status, but that never keeps me away from a landing :)

Far too late, trolls have already been doing exactly that for ages. It only works if a player is speeding.

Well guys, here's my update.

Like I said, I flew around the bubble collecting all the bounties and exploration data I didn't want to loose. Then a flew back to Phaigre and had no problem blasting into the station unscanned. I sold my bounties which were applicable to the CG (3 million worth). Then I bought a vanilla Sidewinder and took a brief stroll outside the station. I did actually manage to request a landing page and get back into the station to see them revoke my landing permission and call me an intruder (the nerve!), but that was boring so a went back outside for my final moments of destruction.

Now that I'm reincarnated back in Greeboski's Outpost, I see no outstanding fines at all. I thought the fines would maybe show up as legacy fines and I'd have the pay them anyway. I'm kind of wondering if I get scanned at some point that my wanted status will come back or something. In other words it seems just a little too clean and easy.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

-----------

Update: Being the skeptical person that I am I made another stroll outside the station with the newly reconstituted Sidewinder and hung around until security scanned me again. They showed no interest in me at all, so I guess I'm good to go. I'll get back into me fancy expensive ships again and resume HAS RES hunting.

Wingmates of mine CMDR Nagata and CMDR Bluffles reported something very similar. Their fines were completely eradicated. They were a bit sceptical, and concerned that they would reappear but I'll report your findings to them.

Succinct and useful threads on General are brilliant, aren't they?

Does anyone have an actual answer or do people just want to belittle my question like Crusina just did? If it's the latter don't bother responding please.
I wasn't "belittling" you. Despite your over sensitive reaction if you had actually tried reading my post like most people do with responses to their posts (see now I'm mocking you) you'd have noticed that my solution to your problem was to simply avoid being scanned (something you mentioned you were decent at) and that if you did fail, to simply turn around and try again after jumping out.

Also, again if you had actually read my post you'd have noted the fact that acknowledged the fact that anyone in a Corvette would probably know how to avoid scans. I only added the "practice a bit more" as a tiny little joke. It was not actually me telling you to practice more.

There was no hostility in my post. You made the assumption I was being rude when I wasn't. You also didn't read MY post after accusing me of not reading YOUR post even though everything I said acts as a solution. I'm wanted in tons of systems, all I ever do is avoid the scans if possible and if I mess up jump into SC and try again. It never really impacts my game to do that.

It's fine if you do not like my solution. I understand that kind of thing would not be for everyone. However do not make things up because you did not actually read my post and you misunderstood the intention behind it.

If it's the latter don't bother responding please.
lol

Well I'm going to leave before the mods ban me for being mean to you or something.

GraXXoR, I see that you understand where I'm coming from when I try to keep my threads on subject and useful. I take this as a complement, thanks!

I don't think she was belittling you at all... Brusque? arguably Flippant? definitely. Belittling? No.
Oh, please read the little disclaimer in her signature and make an informed decision from there. ;-) LOL

Yes, derailment is a real risk in the General forums.

By the way, do you like bananas? They are possibly going to go extinct in a couple of years.

Station guns chew off even Cutter's shields in 3 seconds. He will be dead before he realise he's under station fire.

Had this happen last night in the same system/station.
The authority ships scanned and started attack runs. The station ignored me and I was able to land and do what I needed to do. The run out from the station was epic! :)

If is Corvette has a half decent fit he should be able to go straight for the mail slot after pre-aligning.had the same issue, suicide Cobra just booped into my shields and vanished.
redeemed the CG bounties and switched to trash sidewinder to get rid of the bounty on me. But lets hope that this gets fixed with 2.1, the npc ramming is getting out of hand
