How to reduce the cockpit scale in Vive VR

Ok So I've got my Vive to run the game and its ooh and ahh and pretty, so I settle down to play only to realise the display is so wide now that I cant read the left hand side of the window without getting out of my chair and alking over to to it!

Is there any way to scale down the size of the cockpit interface in VR so that its more managable?

Also is there a generally considered go to settings for getting the best out of Elite on the vive?

Thanks in advance

You might need to post a screenshot or two to explain what you mean.

Do you mean the left hand window looks a long way off now? Which ship are you flying?

As for settings, we'd need to know what CPU and video card you're running, and others with that same/similar spec might be able to post for comparison.

That would be nice if you could reposition the menus. I do find I need to crane my neck quite a bit to read those menus on the side. Maybe time to invest in Voice Attack.

no it doesn't, just tried it. Sorry

And it shouldn't!

The human FOV is "hardwired" due to the construction and position of our eyes. Changing it in VR will cause all sorts of weired (and probably nausea inducing) effects. The fact that you can change your FOV on a monitor screen is just an artificial (but admittedly useful) "hack".

I don't own a HMD (yet), but for all I've read you could try to lean your head forward a little bit and then press F12 (this is the used shortcut, as far as I know) to re-define your standard head position. As long as you don't move behind your (virtual) chair when sitting upright again, this should give you a better overview of your cockpit.

It is a MUST have software now for VR I think, specially as I play with mouse and keyboard :)

Also must have software for Vive or Oculus:

If you like it support it.

For me, even as far back into the chair as I can go doesn't seem quite far enough for me.

We need an option to be able to move the seat back like in a car!
