The pain of starting over or... a second pilot slot?

I've got several accounts. I know, I'm lucky to be able to afford them.

One account I use for testing when it's not clear if a newcomer could achieve a certain task (mainly if taking part in a CG is viable). Anyway, starting again is massive fun, you'll be wiser so it's not as hard as the your first CMDR found it but it is great blasting around the started system in sidewinder.

If you have the funds I'd recommend getting a second account. You just need a separate email (I just get an extra gmail account - setup in about a minute). Once you buy the new account you can just log out of your account in the loader and log in as your new account. Not sure if this works for xBox users (I'm on a PC).

For what it is Elite is very cheap, no subscription just a season pass to effectively massively increase where you can go in the game. I have no issue adding to FD's funds with extra accounts but as I said I'm lucky enough to be able to afford it.

Even if you can't get another account starting from scratch is nothing to be afraid of, it really is fun.

This Post says it all.

Lol, this only sounds "fun" if you've run out of other things to do, but, to each his own.

You missed the point. I do it with a second commander, so I have more choice of things to do in the game. I have thee commanders, each engaged in different activities. I haven't run out of things to do. That would only happen if I became brain dead.

I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to do technically, bit more data and so on but that shouldn't prove too problematic.
Personally I think a second slot would be useful just for messing about on for letting someone else have a go on the game when visiting without risking my main character. For me an alternative would be a mini-universe expanded tutorial that would give a flavour of the full game but with only a few systems, fewer ships, modules and so on but broadly representative of all the stuff you can do. I appreciate that this wouldn't suffice for others though.
I suppose the reason we don't get either of those things is that FD would prefer us to fully invest in that single character and their own story from harmless to elite.
Oh well.

I reset my game and overall do not regret it one bit. Actually, I prefer my second play through much more. On my first play through I got to, what I considered my end game ship, the Cutter. This time through, I've used all ships, minus the Cutter, Conda and Corvette. I do miss my Cutter and will get another one, but, I'm in no rush. Actually, my favorite ship is the useless FDL.

I still stack missions, but, I just think it's smart to do! If you can hold 80 tons of cargo, why would you leave the port with 5 tons? It doesn't make business sense to me, so I stack missions. I figure 1 interdiction per mission, so if I want to kill 20 NPC's I stack 20 missions :)

If I find 2.1 exciting, I will reset again.

Resetting the game made me appreciate many features of the game that I previously over looked!

I highly recommend resetting it. As for the money aspects, it comes back faster than you think. I'm less than 30M away from where I was before the reset. It took me from game release to February of this year to get my ranks, cutter, etc in my previous game. It has been February to now to get almost 100% of what I had before.

But, this time, I define my character differently. I play in the open and I support Hudson. I wing up, almost nightly and support the friends that I have made in the game. Since we are in open, we do engage in PVP. I've made a few commanders see their rebuy screen, and I've seen my rebuy screen too :). I've also helped 5 commanders go from Sidewinder to FAS. Now I'm teaching others how to smuggle, this is also super fun to do!

oh Grasshopper, if only my FDL could jump out of its own way :)

Nice come back made I chuckle... :)

I am sure you know this, but none-the-less, i have an FDL, and Corvette, 2 of the worst jumpers this side of the black stump. If i need to travel to a particular system in either, i check on Inara, nearest system/station where i am going for Modules, Replace the highest module for a LARGE Fuel scoop (A5 =FDL, A7 = Corvette), then after checking where i can swap back in Inara, i go there and swap back and carry onto my Destination.

Bit of a Bind yes, but jumping 15-20 even 30 jumps is not that long with a top FS....... Or if you are stinking rich, just get a Haulaxi to where you won't to go, buy into what you want, fight, then sell and get your Haulaxi back??

allow me to introduce you to Samantha, she is one bad chica! http://coriolis.io/outfit/fer_de_la...4030mB2325d6e2f.Iw18aQ==.Aw18aQ==?bn=Samantha

her load out changes like a woman's mood, but, either way. She is one bad $$$$$!

actually, if you are not into wing-pvp-combat, there isn't much reason to buy a super-expensive ship. i do a lot of bgs stuff atm, in three regions of space, all more then 200 ly from each other. i have a python in one place, a cobra on every place, combined with a courier/dbs for bhing/combat, if a war is triggered i purchase a vulture - and i move between the spots in a DBE or AspE. my FDL sits at home peacefully, and it is fun to fly many ships, sometimes not optimal for a job (mining viper mkIV - why not?)

Well hello Sam, nice to meet you!

Never got on with Bi-Weave's, but i see why you use it in this config. Whilst we are swapping Fun-De-Lance loadout here's mine.... http://coriolis.io/outfit/fer_de_la....AwRj4zNEg===.IwBj5Yuq1Gg=?bn=Wasp0_MaxCombat

very nice, you fly the Tyson! :) I just made that up!!! I like that load out. Use your beams at 1.5 km out on a Conda and at sub 500 km, hit him with your PA's. Aka, the knockout punch. If you hit the power plant, most ships go down with 1 or 2 hits. Aka, Tysons opponents!!! Worse case you bite their ears with your beams!!!

Don't want a fr8er! Doing fine with my Cobra carrying 32 ton.
Have to buy Horizons eventually. Bases are showing up on planets in the Cupis area.
Most of the places mentioned in forums are not visible to me in my map area.

ok I know I am slow but how do you get another commander? I looked and haven't seen how you all have done this?
I have many e-mails I can use and am willing to paert with some cash, I am just not seeing anything that screams click/pay to get this done.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Buying a second account.

ok but go you have to install the game again?
Or is there a way to link your new product code with your current account?

Having multiple "saves" in the one account would be a disaster - bored kiddies could go grief newbies etc all with no come-back.
This. Besides, every CMDR takes up storage space on Frontier servers. That costs money and allowing multiple CMDR's would increases the data storage burden for no appreciable gain. That info will be there forever. Not to mention wading through that data stack would slow everyone else down.

If you want a second CMDR, buy another copy of the game and support the company. Take what I've paid, divided by the number of hours I've spent playing, and its cost me $0.06 an hour. Well worth it.

You can, but don't have too. I have three separate Horizons installs, but you can do one and swap CMDR's at game boot. There's an email validation code (each account needs a different email address) you need to type in. I use three installs to avoid the validation codes.

No need to be rich. I get there in my Asp, park it and buy what I need for the CG or event. Works great. When done, I'll sell the modules and leave the stripped hull behind for future use.

Thanks that is what I will do, just 2 installs will be easier,

BUT Frontier is missing a money maker, just a button click and payment for the user, then with some back end code and wa-la we can have many accounts\commanders attached to one Code. The easier it is the more likely you get the business.

also I will need to find and move my mappings or recreate them all for a new install.......... ugh
