Good news for ED from FD stock trade report as usual

That is my understanding - 3 teams of circa 80 working on Horizons, the following season of ED and PC.

PC sales circa 20K units is pretty good for an Alpha. I think this will do better for them than ED and provide steady sales over the next few years.

Good times and will hopefully secure development of ED over the next few years because my feeling is sales have slowed in the last quarter, although Steam seems to have picked up the last couple of days.

I am interested to see what they do for the next game. The building tech from PC combined with the crafting from ED might make a high definition Minecraft experience.

I think they probably be wise to go completely mainstream for their next game, may revive the Lostwinds franchise. They seem to own the IP for that, an it appearing elite dangerous universe can't be accidental.

You speak but you do not understand - the game is dying, users are leaving in droves and all will be lost.

All must be sacrificed on the altar of Open, even customers at Planet Coaster parks - they will cower under our terrorist anacondas and you will love it.

Nutshell:
Despite still not cashing in EDH sales (deterred income, moved to 2016 financial year) and PC going trough alpha, 9M net cash, no credit lines, and 1M sales for PC alpha.

Looks good

Can you point out where this nugget is. It is not openly within this report. This makes sence since Horizons will not be finished until that point, at which time they will 'release' the final Horizon's version and, and liquidate those pre-sales. I just do not see this figure discussed in the linked article.

There is also no discussion about future sales expectations...which is also a number/statement that would be informative.

It was announced in a previous release earlier this year.

This is just an update - that sort of info would only be expected in an annual report to shareholders.

I see what you did there :)

Deterred EDH sales - they did this before with first , and they did trade update about this (thank you MAIN SEQUENCE, +1). It's all bookkeeping logic, they need specific date for releasing goods, so they can write a number down, apply taxes, and what not. Till release date that money sits on separate account usually. It is not very clear why they delayed official release this year, but we can speculate. I think it is to keep taxes a bit lower for financial year 2015, due of EDH just now picking up steam (ED first season had a huge preorder wave before it, so it made sense to cash in for financial year 2014).

To be fair that is still important :p the fact that nobody plays on steam is indicative of something even if its just that using steam isn't what anyone who plays ED wants lol.

Being an avid Steam user and Elite: Dangerous/Horizons player, I feel some clarification is in order. Essentially, Elite was a pain in the donkey to bother with using on Steam for quite a while, especially after Horizons was released on it as an entirely different game, and of course lets not forget that it wasn't offered there first either, so for people like me who got it earlier, we had to bother getting a Steam key from FD to play it on Steam, if for whatever reason we didn't just want to use FD's launcher.

That a lot of Steam users dropped off, or more likely decided to use FD's launcher instead is of no surprise at all. Any doomsayer that looks to that as some kind of confirmation of their bias is grasping at thin air. I'm actually kind of surprised how many people do still play it on Steam, to be honest, myself included.

If you want more of the gritty details and related issues there were with using Steam, here's a thread I made to help resolve some of them... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=202994

I'm glad these issues have been resolved now though, so hopefully Elite will do better on Steam going forward with newer seasons.

So... how many Horizon expansions had been sold thus far? I know there's around 1.4 million copies of base game.

No idea. Cant find the numbers specifically on Horizons from the annual report..

I do know how much they pay each other though! but it's irrelevant and thou shalln't tell! [yum]

"Frontier has built its reputation based on the quality of its games and players rightly have high expectations of us. We announced a delay to the release of 'The Engineers' in our 2 March 2016 trading update, and the game has benefitted significantly from the additional development time, and progress is encouraging."

Well, i would say, fdev has proven their ability to underdeliver and skip on betatesting consistently and without fail. That money is still coming in is good thing, but momentum will only take you so far.

I am sure Frontier dont want their accounts info flashed all over their forum. Its irrelevant to the game and nobody should care, I certainly dont give a hoot about financials. Far more important is when they are going to get some decent mission gameplay into the game and some sort of immersion because its just not pulling me in at the moment like the old games did. They have had loads of money out of this game so far and still havent spent any of it on detailed improvements - its all shiny gloss so far and no undercoat.
