First off let me tell you how it ends. We both died, simultaneous kills!
Second thing, I haven't had that much fun against an NPC in ages.
I had an hour to kill and thought I would take the Vulture for a spin and do some Undermining for Archon Delaine. Help the cause and all that. I drop into an Empire Controlled system low on fuel so I hustle to the nearest Coriolis. Just as the "Safe Disengage" pops up I get interdicted. I submit without thinking and deploy hardpoints only to find an Elite Anaconda staring me down. This gives me pause. Just for a second. I can take this guy, it will just take some time. Keep my distance and let my Large Beam Laser burn down his shields then move in close and let the Large Canon deprive him of power. Reliant did it to the Enterprise, I can do it here.
We trade opening shots and to my surprise he turns and runs giving me ample time to burn down his shields. He's at 75% hull and I'm still at 3 rings on my shields. He hasn't fired shot since the opening salvo! "Not very Elite, " I laugh. I boost hard and move in for the kill. This is when I discover this particular Elite NPC Pilot likes to wield his Anaconda like a club, not a precision surgical tool. He banks and tips INTO my boost...WHAM! My shields are gone! He thrusts and gets some distance while I'm reeling and checking my damage. Rookie Mistake on my part, never lose sight of the enemy. Damage Report: It's just my shields. I'm still in this fight!
I spin to re-acquire my target only to find him lined back up on a collision course and boosting towards me full out. I boost, Beam Laser spitting lethal atoms across his hull but he wings me. We line up again and he takes another pass at me, but I'm ready and fire a salvo as he passes harmlessly by. I move into his wake and let the guns fire till their drained. I can almost feel the heat from his engines. He's at 2%. I'm at 80%. Neither of us have shields. The lack of fire from his ship should have warned me. Again he tips that massive ship on its end and hits me with it like a club! I reverse thrust and start to pull back but he continues to spin like a giant pinwheel and rolls over me a second time. I still have 70% hull but my ship is informing my canopy is gone. Not damaged. Just gone. The last thing I see before the rebuy screen is that Anaconda exploding into a million pieces.
It was worth the 1,100,000 rebuy cost.
