Ice Mining Inconsistency - Thermal Weapons

I'm going to call this before Beta has even started... Dammit FDEV, it's just unrealistic!

We will likely be only able to mine ice with Mining Lasers, surely all lasers would melt the Ice and give us these diamonds/materials?!

To be honest I just want to blow apart chunks of ice using a Plasma Accelerator :)

Sure, except a Weapon class laser would cause a chunk of ice to sublimate, rather than separate in chunks, if we want to get all realistic about things, a lower power laser or one that could be carefully tuned would be more useful in mining asteroids and ice than a 100mw beast designed for cutting through metal. If you actually look at physics.

Still... sure sure, it would be nice to go at a chunk of ice with a multicannon to hack bits off.

I look forward to your Kickstarter, where you correct all of the "obvious" mistakes Frontier have made, with your own epic space project.

That'll learn them.

That's using special equipment, calculated amounts os explosives in a calculated pattern.
That's the exact opposite of using military weapons .

(And it's beautiful)

OK OK! I want to do this:

But jokes aside, I think it'd be much more fun blowing up asteroids then mass scanning (mining scanner?) & collecting the fragments that had ores in. At the moment I park up next to an asteroid and shoot its surface wherever to extract ore, it makes no sense!

thermal lances.
