Wouldn't it be nice for all of us to receive a call to arms!

Wouldn't it be nice if all players received a call to arms, such as an alien invasion of a system. Everybody would be in open play, and on the same side. Just imagine it hundreds of commanders in their combat ships, all together, and all on the same side, waiting for the enemy fleet to jump into the system, and then all of us attacking at the same time!
i know this wouldn't work in the game, but nice thought.

It might be nice. According to my experience with the community, the aliens just need to send one ship for every 30 players, though. They don't need to fight, just mop up the rest once the players are done shooting each other.

I have the feeling that FD is going that way.

Since multicrew will be a part of ED very soon with huge emphasis on working together, I think an alien invasion of some sort will be the last update of horizons.
And it will be awesome.

Awesome till folks get tired of them spawning right in front of, or directly behind like the AI do now. I've had my fair share of Eagles chasing my Anaconda (that has a higher laden range than their max "exploration" range) and still keep up with me to the station. Makes me sit and think...

Wave after wave of NPCs locking down a port...preventing its use, so people have a reason to band together and kill the common enemy. And if a player gains wanted status by killing another CMDR then he's locked out of that star system until the NPC siege is over.

There are still players who would exploit the chaos to go around cackling and shooting every other player. And they'll call it "emergent gameplay", and then cry when everyone else in humanity wants to hunt them down.

I kind of wonder if they have plans among these line when you look at the hints towards aliens. Take the CG this week. I do think they are slowly building up to the thargoids invasion

They've said repeatedly Thargoids aren't the only aliens in the galaxy, as well as FFE mentioning the Thargoid had other enemies. The enemy of your enemy isn't necessarily your friend.
