Can we land fighters that are launched from ships?

When we're able to launch fighters from our ships, are we able to control/fly them or will they be on autopilot? If we can fly them, will we be able to, for instance, fly an Anaconda to an outpost and then launch and land a fighter there to accept/complete missions and then dock back at its mothership?

To be honest it's an interesting thought. There hasn't been that much said about the actual mechanics of how this launching of fighters etc will presumably work but my assumption is that one would control the fighter itself and perhaps dispatch your "mother" ship in to orbital cruise (or whatever separate instance) much like what you do when in the SRV. If you have more than one fighter though (if indeed one will be able to carry more than one) how this would work I have no idea, and that goes for landing too, as Big Duke suggests, perhaps but prob not initially.

Has already been said that fighters would be controlled by AI, Cmdr or member of multi-crew.. I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to fly them, and perform the same tasks, as we do all other ships :)

if not it will be kind go Meh? I don't see why not, it is a must and need to be there from day one, or We shall say "Ni" to you... if you do not appease us frontier!

I doubt it as they will not have the planetary landing suite like the larger ships. Unless we can use Eagles and Sidewinders, but then the only ship capable of carrying a sidewinder is the Anaconda, and now the Cutter and Corvette.

Suites or not, you could still land them on outposts or stations.

Dunno if we will be able to leave the instance the mother ship is in. I wonder what will happen to it if you do, and how you would get it back.

I don't know anymore. Fdev doesn't really seem to know what they are doing. I am no longer excited about updates to this game since it only adds a new layer of icing to what is supposed to be a nice juicy steak. They hype and hype stuff to the point of everyone wanting it and when it releases after we spend our money on it they tell us that, "Oh, we will make this better in the next update." When the new update hits it is just the same crap wrapped in chocolate. Grind, Grind, Grind.

When Star Citizen expands to multiple systems I'll be jumping ship.

You've just made me hungry.

Good for you. I won't be though. Star Citizen is pretty awful at the moment. I hope it gets better, but some of the design decision are bad so far.

I personally can't wait for the new update. Looks amazing. You don't have to grind in the game, it's your choice.

SC is still pretty awful I agree but they are heading in the right direction. I don't think it will be finished until Chris Roberts steps down and sells the company to a publisher like he did with Freelancer. Once the publisher gets a hold of it they will fix the game to make it playable just like Freelancer.

I'm not excited for the update. I was excited for Horizons and was in awe the first few times I landed and explored. That momentum faded very, very quickly. You're right, you don't have to grind in the game, that just means you are not involved in power play, or advancing your income, or will have access to the best ships. I see those who do not grind to be the ones who play in solo or MOBIUS.

Frontier really needs to cut the cord on private and solo affecting the actual universe. It needs to be wholly separate. Only open needs to affect the outcomes of the persistent universe.

Comments from the Devs implied they don't want a "russian nesting dolls" type effect but I don't see why you won't be able to land. Probably not accomplish much on the ground right now until walking around comes (No srv in fighters) but landings I don't see why not.

If the launched fighters are limited to the extremely small ships we see in CQC, then, well... I don't see much use in having them at all. They will be a one shot kill against anything larger than a cobra. Especially when being fired upon by the large and huge new hardpoints that will be in 2.1. Can you imagine being hit by level 3 or 4 multies? I don't care who you are and what type of shielding those little fighters may have... dead in seconds.
