The content i think ED needs

I understand what you meant. I just find the use of Hans Solo odd. If I was trying to simulate Hans Solo I would absolutely want player empires, player outposts and anything conceivable a player could build to exist for me to dodge around, meet for deals, trade with and smuggle things into.

The content ED needs is content that makes the player matter. As of right now I can't think of a reason to do anything in ED besides get paid.

In GTA V you can play tennis. We should be playing tennis in Elite. Come on FDevs pull your finger out. TENNIS!

You joke but I bet you could make a really cool sci fi tennis set up.

Oh everybody complains about content, regardless of game or genre, I'm sure there are even people that compain aboutn the content of that game you reviewed in your thread. I don't think games have so much of a content problem as players have too-much-free-time problem.

A bit trolly..but Nail.hit.head! LOL My free time is definitely filled up by Horizons & one day I'm sure I'll find that one last material for 30% increased damaged for my multi-cannons - !0 year plan you say? Yeah..'pretty confident I will!

OP you are describing a game that is not ED in your post.

you should honestly just go play that game because it will probably take several years for FD to even begin adding the content you ask for. No one is getting everything they want, not even the devs themselves at this point.

The sort of stuff OP asks for is exactly the kind of stuff that is in the far distant future, not season 3.

I agreed with the author.

Paraphrasing him for those that don't want to watch:

- Cohesion (The game feels like a lot of mini-games bolted together. CQC and PP to name the obvious 2)
- Agency (ability to effect change in the game world - the BGS is but one aspect but even that for me is way too slow)
- Persistence (Gives the ability for the players actions to have a lasting effect on the game. BGS - sure, but blow up 10,000 pirates in a REZ site and they still come for more)

These are things I can understand ... it's not really a lack of content as there are a ton of things to do, but ultimately none of them really matter as what you do has little to no effect on the game itself. There is no reward (other than credits) for your efforts or time which means once the novelty wears off it can cause discontent.

I couldn't agree with a video and opinion more. Everyone at Frontier INCLUDING MB SS and DB should watch this. I said from Horizon forward if they didn't follow the proper models and continued on their path (which they are doing) that it would lack all of this (in the video). The easiest way to get out of this trap is adding exploration content. Stretch out how far and hard it is to find thing and reward people immensely for finding them. Look how successful the barnacle hunt was (other than all the bugs and frustrations with a poor system). It was fun and frustrating as hell trying to find them.

I could offer a solution right now that would solve those issues immediately and its so simple. But if they haven't thought of it by now there is no hope. People love puzzles. There is such a huge opportunity to place puzzles that require people to pool information in a system to tell a story. Hell even treasure maps are fun.

What got me so compelled to play this game and support it in the first place was exploration. They could create such an amazing and unique galaxy with an assortment of unbelievable things to see using technological systems to explain and describe what I'm seeing.... but failed to do it. The system map is a joke, the method of exploration itself is also really poor. The jump gong jump gong scan jump repetitive nature for no purpose other than to go back and collect minimal reward made it really a joke. After exploring about 10 of the same systems it really did become a novelty. They tried to base it on science (the stellar forge) and other than some systems with black holes and multiple suns and a TYPO there really has not been anything other than a little eye candy. There could be soooooo much to find and explore if they had the system in place correctly (probes and scientific methods of exploration that required skill like the wave scanner) and hired someone to create 1000-2000 unique things to seed repeatedly in a random but necessary pattern. Piece these puzzles together to create unique story lines. Putting the pieces together results in the reward of the story. Archaelogy, History.. Isn't just exploring the creation of our own solar system exciting. Wasn't the data from Pluto extremely interesting? Isn't the Kepler data continuing to show why the Stellar forge got it wrong?

Truth is stranger than fiction. That is why we need them to get off their science high horse and hire some people to inject some interesting things into this galaxy.

Pink lazer beams isn't going to hold people's novelty desire for long.

This is exactly what I keep saying whenever people ask about those of us who find there is no content in the game. Nothing matters or works together. What I'd like is if FD would spend more time on making this cohesion a reality and circle back on some of the elements of the game they've already put into place, but make them work together and matter.

If they did that, and took a long hard look at a combat overhaul based on ship roles, there would be a reason to come back. As it is, I've been waiting for about 6 months now for them to put something in that would be worth getting involved again for... tried a bit of Horizons, but it didn't really add anything.
