Players with huge bounties

When I look at the top 5 bounties at Robigo I find players listed with huge bounties on their head. From a hundred million to over 2 billion.

Apart from not dying, how can someone get such a huge bounty on their head when a murder only gives you a bounty of 6K? I can't believe anyone has killed over 300,000 NPC sidewinders.

I did get a bounty for over 130K once when scanned by a cop while slave trading from Robigo but I still fail to see how this would add up enough over time to get a 2.2bn credit bounty. Do subsequent bounties increase exponentially if you don't die?

Has anyone ever bounty hunted someone with such a large bounty on their head or do these people stick to solo?

You get huge bounties by getting scanned with illegal cargo, I thought they'd capped them though, I went out in a blaze of glory with mine when they were putting the changes in.

Either way murder = 6-8k

I just got scanned with some science samples = 4.5mil

Two points here..

1. Players can get massive bounties, but the amount you can collect from killing them is capped at 1 million.
2. Players at Robigo don't get massive bounties by killing anything, it comes from getting fines for selling slaves which then become bounties ;-)

Stick to solo.. I have +/- 20m bounty, just where I farmed some imperial rep and got hated by the compound I chain attacked, and hacked.

The only person who is likely to get that is my friend that just started on Saturday, then it'll be in a private group, and, will be a controlled 'assassination' with me in a shield-less sidewinder for minimal loss. Then he'll only get 1m I think it is.

It's nowhere near the BIG bounties of other people though.

One way to get large bounties is to ship illegal goods, and then get scanned by Authority vessels. I recall one trip when I was transporting Imperial Slaves. Both the relevant stations traded them legally, but the main part of the destination system considered them 'Illicit Cargo'. I got interdicted by an Authority vessel, scanned (YOU try outrunning a Viper MkIII in an Anaconda!), and got a fine of 1.15Mcr. Still, 2 trips later paid that off.

Just a guess, but there was a kind of exploit where you could accept a mission, cancel it, sell the cargo and ignore the fine. If you did it extensively, you'd amass a huge fine, which turns into a bounty after a week.

Some used it to gain a lot of money with it, and now have quite the bounty - until its time runs out and it becomes a legacy fine again.

They probably stick to Solo when leaving Robigo. The way jurisdictions work, they would only have to pay any bounty / legacy fine if they were forced to spawn at Robigo, which is caused by dying anytime between their departure from Robigo and docking anywhere else.

Unfortunately the devs hinted that there won't be a change to this mechanic, but that maybe intergalactic bounties - if we ever get them - will address the issue. We'll see if we will get the chance to carry out bounty hunts worthy of the newspapers, in any case, it won't be any time soon.

No matter how big the system says your bounty is. Its capped at 1 million per system, making bounty hunting oh so worth the effort...

Would only hurt the criminal player if they died in Robigo and the station was the last place they docked.
