Frontier - this is the gold standard for release notes.

Personally I'm sick of people presenting information in a 10 minute video with a patronizing voice over, when it could be more efficiently communicated as a short list!

Though this is by no means the worst offender. The 4 minute video I had to watch to find out how to reset an AV amplifier wins that one. What was the information they felt the need to put in video format.

"Press and hold the VCR button and the source button - then press the standby button to turn the amp on."

Now that's a truly great way to explain what is in an update. Any chance of at least a little bit rubbing off onto FD?

That's a truly terrible idea.

Video is a dreadfully inefficient way of getting information across, and not only that it's unsearchable should you need to refer back to it at a later date.

Plus on top of that, with Elite's usual major version release notes being the size they are, the video would probably be over an hour long...

Psssh. Needs more loach.

For the Loach!

I agree, anyone who saw the usual scope of changes for major updates (Horizons 2.0 or previous season) must understand that this is impossible to accomplish on Elite size of things. The video would be HOURS long and general waste of developers' time.

I have quite an extensive history with wargaming and their games and FD is way above their standarts... Especially when it comes to community interaction and customer support. Wargaming is not a good example of how to do things. Especially since they only started making update videos like that in the past half a year. Before that there were no videos only patchnotes and PTS server. Whereas in FD you get Newsletters and regular livestreams about what is gonna be introduced...

So… you're asking for Sandro in a summer dress reading patch notes?

OH NO! the image implant, O.O

I repel you with the POWER of MB Beard....

Blast! I know what I'm talking about and can't find a decent link to explain it :)

One of the developers has a stuffed pet loach. It rules the universe.

Is that the black and white thing that was lurking on Sandro Sammarco's sombrero the other day?

(go on, say that three times quickly... Sandro Sammarco's sombrero... Sandro Sammarco's sombrero... Sandro Sammarco's sombrero...)

Well, having come back to my thread and read through all the replies I can say one thing, this has become a bit of a strange, self reinforcing community since I last frequented it. I literally have no idea what most of the posts are referring to. It's like you're all whispering deliberately because I suggested that something outside of your world might be a good idea. There's a danger of what's left of the community becoming very cliquey and driving everyone else who's not "in the club" away. I'm not so sure Elite is enough, I think some of you need to start referring to it as Ineffable.

I guess that was directed at my comment :D

Yeah, it's like the whole minecraft Herobrine stuff.

To keep you (and anyone else in the loop) - CMDR Thrust is a fictional character rumoured to have access to all future updates, often before they've been announced or indeed created.
Salt is a word used by certain groups which will remain unnamed. These groups have done all they can to push the boundaries often with very tongue in cheek references. Although their motives are unclear it would appear a lot of their actions are to deliberately cause outrage, complaints and annoy other people, salt is a measure of annoyance generated. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=salty
