Have a hot key that allows you to 'record' the position of every object, player and npc (in your specific instance) for a specific period of time. This is all just numbers, right? Just the basic game telemetry.
Once that information has been saved to a file ... let me reload it and play back the session inside the game engine. Allow me to control camera position, multiple angles and perspectives.
Simple
For glamour shots it would be nice to be able to control the camera position with the mouse, as an idea/example, have it move more quickly so we don't spend quite so long trying to get the damn thing in position, etc.No plans to change the external camera. It's meant for glamour shots, not for combat.![]()

I'd like to have the option for an external camera while docked. I'd like to take photos of the ship and/or look around it a little bit. It's a pity that there's that beautiful ship and I can't admire its looks. In normal flight it's cumbersome to control the debug camera and we're also vulnerable to an attack in that state.
This was exactly my thinking, once remap controls are in I would expect the debug cam to work in supercruise if you map it to a suitable button/combination.If we can remap our button layout i will try to swap the button combination for debug cam to a combination that works in super cruise..
Now we need to hold B.. but this doesn't work at all in super cruise.
Hold Y does work, and the left and right bumpers are still empty... i have good hopes we can unlock the debug cam in super cruise this way.![]()
Here you go, external dock shot without a docking computer. No technical wizardry here, just superb flying skills![]()

Here's a fix for the camera that doesn't provide an advantage:
Have a hot key that allows you to 'record' the position of every object, player and npc (in your specific instance) for a specific period of time. This is all just numbers, right? Just the basic game telemetry.
Once that information has been saved to a file ... let me reload it and play back the session inside the game engine. Allow me to control camera position, multiple angles and perspectives. People have been making great 'ctrl-alt-space' videos but what can currently be done is still very limited. Recording the telemetry data from the game and then playing it back would allow you create amazing video compilations without providing and advantages to game play since you'd effectively be reviewing scenes recorded in the past.
Looks like you've got the music turned up in the ol' party bus Bongo, can see the windows shaking when you have landed!!Here you go, external dock shot without a docking computer. No technical wizardry here, just superb flying skills![]()

It can be done without the docking computer, just hover slightly above landing then turn flight assist off, then enable debug camera.

Using it with "FA Off" makes it way easier to use.I'm sure there might be a very good reason the external camera is as awkward to use as it currently is, but please - just fix it.
It seems silly to have such an option but then make it really awkward to use. Yes, we can all muddle along and get the external views we eventually want but it shouldn't have to take 5-10 minutes to do something that could be done in 5-10 seconds.
I know some players think "it's part of the charm" but I don't. Maybe give us an option to have the camera view with current controls or newer easier ones, that way everyones happy.
Sorry to grumble, especially as this has no doubt been mentioned before.
This is something I had lived with as we didnt have liverys before. But now i think it needs improving.
