well there is some news out today. and since the old griefing is being hotly debated in this forum i thought i share

EVE online monument greif

talking about monuments, could we have a saint braben statue or a brass full size Fer-de-Lance somewhere?!

That's karma for you CCP. At least DUST 514 is heading to PC now and Starbuck is looking hot in Valkyrie.

They can fund a monument by making a virtual Braben bobble-head available in the cash shop I guess. A little indirect, but they don't make statues like they used to, so might need something solid. And put it on top of something rather inaccessible... ;)

Apparently there was a big pub crawl where it kicked off a few times and vandalism to the venue itself as well.

sounds more like an 18-30 holiday..

Let me get this straight... CCP Games deserves to have property damage committed against their monument because of a business decision to not release a product they developed for a specific platform released onto another platform?

How old are you again?

While it is a silly thing they did, i think we can all be somewhat glad that even the worst in our gamer community only go as far as vandalizing by slapping a sticker on something.
Quite a contrast with how vandalism in other communities can get out of hand.

I wouldn't say just from that one blunder no but they have made so many I lost count. Anyone could have told you it was a mistake to put that game on PS3 and not at least have a PC version install base prior. EVE players also wanted to play that game and were quite disappointed when they found out their sub fees were going towards a PS3 game that nobody would play.

I wouldn't damage their statue personally but I do think it's quite ironic how they don't like to be griefed when it comes to something they pay for heh. Even if it is fully insured lol.

CCP wanted to get into console gaming and approached both Sony and Microsoft, and only Sony were willing to play ball with the way CCP wanted it. The Eve player's sub fees go towards making CCP profitable, how CCP then choose to spend that is entirely up to them.

Sorry, but your anti-console attitude is just plain childish.

Im not anti-console I own a 360 and a PS4. I just think it was an incredibly stupid thing to do at the time and I was right. Most people didn't ask for a console version of anything from CCP. Most console gamers hated DUST 514. Not to mention the game tied into a PC MMO of which they had no history. Not many PC gamers were going to go buy a PS3 just for Dust 514. If anything it should have launched on PC first. THEN went to console.

What does this mean though? Monuments, from war memorials to whatever get vandalized up and down the land every week. I guess the only thing different here is they could figure out who did it...Wait a sec, Didnt Ozzy Osbourne try something like this as well in the States? Or was he just drunk taking a pee?

During the festival someone vandalized the structure by adding the logo of the in-game Goonswarm faction and scratching out one of the player character names on the monument.

Goonswarm? Of course, it just had to be those SA pillocks! Wonderful isn't it, we've got those characters here as well. :(

Goons are like scooter riders.

They have as much right to be on the road as anyone else, and they are perfectly entitled to do so as long as they obey the same laws as everyone else.

However, they think they are special and want everyone else to concessions to them.

Everyone else still laughs at them though :)
