Question on cancelling missions impact of local rep

Hi

This is a bit gamey and really not role play but I am trying to grind my way to the iClipper by stacking planetary cut power and performance review missions.

Am I right in thinking, if the local faction power loves you, you gain less rank for the power? If so, could I purposefully fail a bunch of missions (after stacking the ones I want) to bring down my local rep which will in turn lead to a greater boost in the Empire when I do hand in the real missions?

THanks!

I promise to stop grinding after this but I really want to experience the iClipper bridge in VR. I've set up a bunch of commands in Voice Attack and now enjoy standing to the side of the pilot seat and issuing commands verbally. It's so geeky is fab!

Soz!

No. Every mission give you some rep with local faction and some with Empire and some rank progression. Failing missions won't effect the military progression. There is no difference in gained rep what ever your standing with local faction or empire is. You only need to be on positive rep with empire to get the rank up mission. Hostile, unfriendly, neutral, friendly or allied status have no effect to rep gain for military rank progress. Being allied may give you access to better missions (that require you to be allied with local faction to get the mission) and more rep/military rank progression.

Thanks for the info! I was sure I heard that you ranked up quicker as you increase the rep with the faction to the point you stall! Obviously not!

Follow up question:

The controlling faction is becoming increasingly displeased by my actions but the other minor factions love me. I notice I can still land despite the station being red and hostile.

Will there come a point where I can no longer get docking permission?

Thanks!

They will always allow you to land/dock. And i am pretty sure they won't attack you if you don't become wanted. I have never been hostile to faction, but i have never heard about station attacking hostile player, because he is hostile. Faction may send ships and wings to interdict you from SC or attack you while you are on RES or naw beacon, but never heard that it would have happened in station instance.
