Hardware & Technical AMD Drivers 16.5.1 - out now - report results and frame rate etc and your config

catalyst 16.5.1 x280x MSI - driver performance (the new driver was out this morning & here is a planet performance test - ps driving a buggy around the planet not a spaceship netted a frame rate with an average of around 22FPS on 2560x1440 VSR,
true resolution not vertual would net better speeds if the image was in a real mode and not being resampled,
anyway here is the space ship docking video from high orbit - the frame rate average is better by far than driving buggy but a lot less than the 49+fps in space - the driver seems to work well - but could do better one hopes - https://youtu.be/i82wE5cntaw

MSI 280X 3GB - 16GB Ram - Phenom II BE

planet landing and stuff with frame rate and other statistics top left

results from pvp also (the ships are a little simpler one imagines or thinks but the arenas are plenty complex

Yes.....

the introduction of compiled shaders pretty much solved this .... also the amd drivers include the feature

So would you say there was any improvement in FPS when in the SRV? I've always updated to the latest driver but this is the first one I haven't updated simply because I've not seen any FPS improvements with each release.

Has the AMD windows 10 supercruise bug been fixed yet?

AMD fixed that about 3 months ago :)

technical driver development has been paying close attention to driver reports and as you can see i have spent time filing detailed logs of performance with videos that have performance statistics top left on the video,
as i said space is smooth as glass .. landing has improved frame rate ... and lacks stuttering ...

srv average fps on mine is in the 20+ something though but also does not stutter .... i took a 30 minute drive yesterday - totally jitter free but the lowest fps of anything you do on elite including 8 person frantic battling on CQC Arena death matches.. (which averages 45+FPS and can be 60+Fps)

Thanks unfortunately the Afterburner/RTSS OSD was a little blurry probably due to YT compression+720.

And that was a really long "freeze" you got at https://youtu.be/CvHE_qPDZkw?t=26s coming out of OC, I hope you don't always have that wait, that would drive me mad! :)

oddly enough the time it takes to come out of hyper drive varies and i think of this as part of the adventure ....
how close will i be exactly ? part of the fun haha
but yeh the time varies....

in reply i watched the last video and yes the text is a little hard to read ... but lowest valie is 30 highest around 47 - average around 35 while flying....

unfortunately my net-speed isn't the best so i upload in the highest i can actually get uploaded in around 15 minutes !

however full screen the text is readable if you train yourself to recognise the numbers over time.

Plays.TV seems to be working for me again with beta 16.5.1 drivers - it hadn't been working for quite some time with E: D. :D

by the way i found out or at least i think i did that that in the raidonsettings for the app as well as setting tessellation to 16x and anti-aliasing to 4Q (for the vsr most probably) ... turn off the driver shader cache (only for this game as the game implements it's own version and having the two causes the game to crash on start)(the game version does i believe all the shader caching we need)... but then who knows who does the best version ... the game version that caches all the shaders or the driver version that caches the loaded one when first loaded (may well to be seen)

I still get absolutely awful FPS in Supercruise. Running R9 290 w/ 16.5.1 Crimson Driver.

Any recommendations for sorting this out?

PS: New to ED this week. First post...

do you mean anything below 60 ?

i get 59.9 fps in supercruise (i have V sync on and frames caped at 60) ultra settings (uses close to 3gb of graphics ram - around 2770mb)

Radeon settings are 4Q anti-aliasing - edge detect - 16x Tessellation ... my game settings are VSync on Frame cap 60 - at 1920x1080 1 super-sampling ultra graphics (two times super-sampling at 1920x1080 caped my frame rate at 30) - at 2560x1440 VSR my settings are ingame changed to 0.75 super-sampling (higher drops my frame rate in PvP to unacceptable levels) and ultra graphics with Vsync on in game and frame max locked at 60 .....

the amd gaming app if you use auto tune will set ultra with 2 x super-sampling on balanced setting (caps in battles at 30 fps) and 3 x super-sampling at quality (3x super-sampling doesn't seem to work with the game)

an interesting and mountainous planetoid to land on,
al right it's beautifully coloured & textured but as with many things elite ... quiet, interesting and quiet.. lol

https://youtu.be/tjIEbOOyNuQ - see performance is at least decent at these settings on a 280x - better hardware and even better - for lower hardware the 1980x180 1 super-sampling 4Q anti-aliasing - 16x Tesselation - settinsg are my recommendation
