Oh my I think you cracked it! All this time we've been complaining about them not caring about exploring and they must have mixed up the words and thought we meant exploding! This explains all the exploration neglect. You, sir, are a genius!
Ok, so I've no clue at all what Jaques station is other than what I've just read, that it is a movable station that will possibly jump directly to Beagle Point? So, if a friend crashed into a planet after falling asleep at the wheel, got sent back to Jameson's sans data and Elite status, my friend can dock in Jaques and magically teleport back to Beagle to get a second chance to complete the DWE?

Having checked it out, it's an 8-tier community goal with what looks like some very extended upper tiers - I wonder, if it only reaches Tier 6, say, will the station only make it as far as Sag A*?
Well my colleague doesn't want to be at Jaques Station when it goes - he only has a Sidey with a jump range of 14.9ly (and no Horizons!) so his Dangerous Universe will shrink at lot. Jaques has Outfitting but it not very Hitech (so no top rated FSD for Sidewinder!) and no Ship sales but has repair facilties and Universal Cartography.

What if you couldn't hitch a ride with the station?
I doubt Dr. Kaii would let people on the roster if their netlog showed Gliese -> BP.
not having read the CG 'rules', merely the posts here. I feel entirely equipped to be extremely disgruntled that people are potentially being given a free ride to BP. especially so soon after 500+ of us piloted through weeks or months of star systems, careful plots through the Abyss, gentle landings ay rendezvous points and scouring plant surfaces for materials. It really takes the shine off the achievement. Whilst i support a Fuel Rats CG and will contribute (if i make it back in time). I think the 'reward' is a bit much.

I see what's really going on: they want to turn the tables. Get all the Explorers blockading the station while the PKs do the trade runs
That makes perfect sense in the world of Elite. Afterall it's a game where you get fined for murder, and murdered for loitering
