CQC Gave CQC a try today--won't be making that mistake again.

I had something like 4 good matches and now I'm winning every match I'm in, getting MVP every match and averaging at 10-14 kills.
This was in one day. I started at lvl 2 and got to 14.
CQC is pure skill, play TDM and try your luck there.
And for reference, I suck at pvp on most games, and I'm wiping the floor with people that are 10, 20 even 30 levels ahead of me.
Clearly the problem isn't the game, it's the player.
Deal with it.

While distributing the higher ranked players among the teams probably would help, it's not exactly a fool proof plan. Experience and competence is not always tied to CQC rank.

I only started doing a bit of CQC last week because I'm out exploring and quite frankly wanted to shoot something - and CQC is the only action I can get (still want multiple commanders for my account, please...) Thing is, I've been flying since beta so I know a little bit about combat. I've climbed up to CQC level 20 or something in 5 hours of CQC, but I've consistently done very well from the get go. I got a Win/Lose ratio of 5 and a Kill/Death ratio of 2.6. Judging me by my CQC level isn't appropriate, as I appear to be a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to CQC. Similarly, I assume a brand new player could reach a high rank in just a few days and still not be able to perform better than your average new player.

I'd like to suggest the matchmaker needs to take K/D and W/L ratio into account.

Just played my first CQC today, good fun knowing your death won't cost you money and opening fire won't get you wanted!

One likely stupid question though, where do the bonus credits go? To your ED commander? Or is there a way to spend them in CQC?

TIA

Its very meager, I am nearly prestige 8, and I have made a whopping 2.5M credits in CQC. By the time I reach elite I might have 3M.

Takes forever to find a match, then you get matched up lvl1 agains 40 or so. I played for 20 minutes its complete rubbish. Cant believe i payed for that. Its like 10 people playing it? Luckely the Elite game is still better, hope they put the effort in that instead :)

Hi, I get games most of the time very quick. It can depend on what time zone you live. 20 minutes is very short. Do more practice if you want. Learn the maps, try to take cover or hide and pick a good target. If you just go after every target you see you might get into trouble with other players attacking you. Success, it gets better if you want it :)

Yeah you know, I was telling myself the other day... if Fdev is trying to sell more copies of the game by releasing Arena, then they need to work on it some more. If I had been introduced to the game through Arena, I'd think twice about purchacing the real game.

Put it this way. 99.9% of everything in this game is unlocked through PvE. Why complain about the 0.01% that's unlocked through PvP?
What about the other 0.09% of content that got away altogether?

There was a grand total of 4 people online using the steam Arena client yesterday, so that's at least four players who haven't upgraded... ;-)

Why did you pay for it if you already have the Elite game? Was it so that you don't get the CQC rank showing up on the right hand panel?

Are you serious? I thought credits would get a lot better after 1 prestige jump but even with a 14 kill team deathmatch it only earned me 6600 or something like that. I really think Frontier should arrange some competitions for game credits, maybe an in game CQC league or cup with a serious cash prize for the winners(and maybe smaller amounts for runners up). I think that might encourage more people to keep playing CQC to get better at it.

Yes I am serious, but I don't care about the credits, I have tons of credits in the main game. Its the thrill of fighting other people instead of the brain dead AI that is the fun part of CQC for me. I have no managed to be lvl 50 prestige 8 and over 100k xp past that, still need 56% more before I become elite. It appears I get around 1% every 75 or so kills so its a slow slow slog. Haven't checked the credits but I believe it is around 3M now, a pittance compared to the amount of money I could have made doing anything else, but its fun so I don't care.

Well you're the perfect example of the problem. I was just in a matchup with you and some other people. Kept seeing you jump all the low levels, never once the higher level player in the room.

The matchmaking system needs to be fixed, but honestly, I think that the problem is too many people acting like you do, and therefore there are almost no players. WHich is why trying to get a new match up kept landing me in your instance.

I think You're already Elite, just not in any category they list in game.

Pray tell what do you mean by acting like I do? I shoot whomever flies in front of me, regardless of level. But if you insist, what is your commander name, I will target you all day long in CQC and leave everyone else alone if that will make you feel better.

Credits at the moment appear to be based on rank only, not rank+prestige, so if you want max credits (not that that's much), just stick at rank 50 the next time you reach it. I reported it a little while back and they say it's a known issue.

If the credits kept progressing as they do for the ranks, I think you'd get about 75,000 credits for an 8-point deathmatch win at Prestige 8 Rank 50. Not a massive amount, but better than the current state.

Whatever happened to good sportsmanship? You win. Great. You lose. That's fine too. Congratulate the winner and do better next time.

Am I too old school? Or do people really not expect to have to practice to get good anymore?

Well that would be a big improvement for sure. Don't get me wrong, the I love CQC and had a lot of fun playing it but to get consistent numbers it needs rewards that at least match a simple 1 hop trade run or maybe some fed/imperial rank or something like that.

Otherwise the new guys will just keep ragequitting when they get roflstomped by the more experienced players and/or the odd rogue hacker because they see it as all pain and no reward. CQC would be so much better if it could just up its population a tiny bit. Just my opinion of course:)
