T9: never again!

So tried out the T9-money-making machine and omg......never felt so vulnerable in this game [where is it]. It's just a big, slow whale of a ship. Came back from a simple trade route with only 66% health from just one NPC encounter.

No, never again!

Just saw a T-9 Heavy fighting in a combat zone in Beta 2,1. Never saw that before.

Indeed the T-9 Heavy takes some getting used to flying, and amazingly some pilots love to fly it. Go figure.

Never really fancied the tub myself what, big, lumbering and slow to boot!

That being said, I have seen them soaking up the damage in RES often, what!

Haha agreed, she is a bit of a bertha thats for sure but im quite fond of mine, i fly her shield less on most ocassions to squeeze the extra 32t lol. like many have mentioned she is a money printer and awesome for delivery CGs. :D

I've owned a T9 for months and I can honestly say that no NPC has ever taken more than 1 ring off my shield.

- Submit to interdiction (this is the important bit)
- 4 pips to SYS while FSD cools/charges
- High wake out
- Done

I too have had a Type-9 for months now, and it is not fun to fly. But it is charming in that it truly feels like a lumbering giant of a ship, instead of the unrealistic maneuverability of ships like...the Corvette? And it is entirely possible to be killed by NPC's, I've lost a few times and was sent to the re-buy screen by Elite Railgun Annie/Python/FDS. But again, the risk makes the game more interesting to me.
All in all, however, the Type-9 is good at what it does. Makes lots of credits.

I've seen NPC T9's putting up a good fight against other NPC's in a HazRes. I can't afford one yet... Perhaps I should go and kill a few ;-)

I have concluded that the Python is the better money maker. At least I won't lose my hair flying it.

Is the T9 really that High Risk/High Reward? Never even considered getting it.
It is slow and it can't defend itself well. Three hardpoints and it's too slow to keep a target in front of you. I just go weaponless. Turrets may help, but you only have three hardpoints and if they are deployed, you can't jump...
Almost nothing can mass-locking you. If you submit, 4 PIPs to SYS, you should be well on your way before your shields drop, and I only use 5D Shield Generator myself. It carries 500t (with shield) or 1.5/2.2 million credits per one-hop slave route, pending your prices.

From what I've been able to see thus far, the T9 makes money fast obscenely quick. It's just a matter of finding stations that are close to the starting, lowering the amount of time you're vulnerable to interdiction. I've had my shields stripped off once, and I've been interdicted ten times or so. Just put full power into shields and get the hell out of there.

With the weapon modifcations, I wonder if you might be able to do something with it? Shield penetrating laser with engine shorting torpedos? Hmmm... The possibilities.

It's high reward for sure. The risk depends on whether you're flying in solo or open really (and who you encounter). I had a T9, did bulk trading of imperial slaves for a few nights and made the money I wanted to make with it. I sold it and am now off to buy an Anaconda.

I did find out though that you must not allow yourself to be distracted whilst docking it. I was, and found myself being shot to hell by the space station all the way to a 4.5m rebuy screen. I know I requested docking and was accepted so I'm not exactly sure what I did!

Went to the wrong pad maybe?

I found out the hard way that there's an entrance loitering alarm that goes off if you don't get through the mailslot fast enough. That may have been it.
