'simultaneous multi-projection' could be the game changer for VR!

I wonder how much development is required by Frontier to make use of this 'simultaneous multi-projection'.

I'm still waiting for vr sli, I don't believe any of these nvidia promises

VR SLI exists - it's a fully fledged API, its just that no games support it.

It takes a fairly herculean effort to implement a brand new API into an existing rendering engines pipeline.

It's just not worth the effort for Frontier to implement it. They are way to busy trying to deliver core gameplay with the Engineers release.

Hard to tell how much of this is new harwdare features, and how much is marketing spin. Sounds like incremental improvements are possible, and its likely to be game engine specific (which maybe puts Frontier at a disadvantage). My feeling this is really only needed for next-gen headsets or power saving - unless current gen games can offer AA improvements by using these features.

This announcement came just in time, I had £600 earmarked for a custom pcb 980ti but will hold off for a few months and see what happens with these new cards. :)

bet you're glad you held off now. as an owner of 2 980tis, I wish I had (examines bank balance to see if he can justify two 1080s... hmmmm)

These features have just been announce for new cards just arriving. It amazes me that some people think that this stuff should work right now. DX12 was announced 2 years ago and we will only see a handful of games for it this year at best. You can expect this new stuff to take 2 years to see any serious game implementation. IMO

I am a heavy VR users with Elite. I have a 1080 and run with 2x super sampling using the Oculus debug tool and it is absolutely glorious. The super sampling isn't optional the rendering just isn't there yet. The Rift display is plenty sharp when fed the right pixels though.

That said the frame rate is good enough, but with super sampling off the difference in frame rate is obvious. Also you get stuttering in any ship if you look down at your hand area.

If SMP is enough to get past that it would make the VR Elite experience flawless and it would make it easier to demo to people who don't have their VR legs. Even with an expensive card you still need a leg up.
