More cargo = more scans... Why?!

In all honesty, I have never noticed an increase on interdictions or anything resembling hostile actions towards me while running missions. Mainly i would attribute it to speed. I try to be as fast as possible in any situation. I flew the T6 for quite a while and gained a huge wealth from it, whether it be smuggling mission or commodity grinds. My advice to you is get real comfortable with a ship and utilize it to its full potential. One thing I love about the game is there are so many ways to play it. In my opinion, find what works for you. Someone once said I was stupid for running my T6 without shields. He guaranteed I would die every mission, every run with a belly full of goods just lost. Fortunately for my I ran the same setup for over two months and never lost the ship once. Now Im not saying I didnt take damage, there was plenty to go around. But for me, it worked. Also look for as much advice as you can to gain the information you seek, but again, dont just do as you're told. figure out what is gonna work best for YOUR play style. If you would like you can add me, GT Tommy2knucklz, and I can show ya a few tricks to smuggling. As Silent Gamer92, Its easier to teach hands on. And thats only if you're willing. Im always down to help out when I can.

Nope.

Still doesn't address the attention imbalance in point 1. I've followed real advice from this post in reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...tailed_guide_to_smuggling_and_avoiding_scans/
But even this poster suggests the only way with a glimmer if hope is to exit to the main menu. That's a      option and one that breaks the game in my opinion. Even throwing chaff at npc security doesn't work (and isn't fair)

I'm not after cheats or workarounds. A fair chance to fight for my mission is all I ask.

So... If you or anyone else has any actual advice that's not covered in that article it would be great both fir myself and the wider community.

At least we can agree on the imbalance. If robigo was balanced you would be followed by Clippers and Pythons that kill on sight.

Honestly, stealth does not work vs NPC's, neither does chaff.

The solution is a light build, high jump range and as much speed as possible. Asp or Cobra.

Then, learn to dock hot. If you are not hitting boost up to the last 0.5km to the letterbox, you are too slow.

No weapons needed, but a raklgun to shoot scanning npc's in the face before you do the runner is always fun.

Remember, they ned to finish the scan. Once they start, yoi have 10 seconds to deal with it. That is a fair bit of time if you have a few back up plans.

I have never been scanned.

Z...

Ok I'm cranky now.

Sure I'm doing high risk illegal missions and I accept the fact that if I get scanned I will fail the mission. But...

1. The higher value of the mission I have the more I get scanned. That's not fair. How do the police know what I've got before they attempt to scan me?
2. Once the Red warning comes up on your screen there is *nothing* I have found that even gives you a chance to get away.
3. If I get scanned and then blow that ship up, shouldn't my mission be able to continue?

Hrrrmmff.

Any advice appreciated.

Well I came in here with every intention of giving you some advice on smuggling and how to avoid scans but your attitude in other replies sucks therefore

Good luck, and be nice in future you might get help then

SCKunk has the perfect solution posted here, except in one point i would disagree. Turning around and shooting the interdictor is very time critical and a high risk of failing the missions. Key for me is using the right ships (A-Graded ASP or A-Graded Cobra).
Fly with 4 pips in engine (you don't need weapons) and on interdiction just submit immediately, back in real space slide your throttle to 100% and spam the boost button. On FSD cooldown high wake out. This strategy never ever failed a single time on me, doesn't matter what ship is interdicting you.

As a general rule of thumb, alot of the mission types can generate 2 npcs per mission. 1 annoying "I have important information for you" NPC and a Pirate. I've had 7 Npcs in my Comms at once. I fly to Fehu once every while to nab data courier and legal cargo missions to pump some % into my Imperial Navy rank. I use a fast Type 6 that has outrun many a pirate and the the occasional cop when the rare smuggle jobs appear in fehu. As mentioned prior speed is certainly king, where the Cobra is best. I've had no problem in my Type 6 though, A spec thrusters and A spec Distributer will outrun most scan attempts. Also little tip from me that hasn't been mentioned yet, Turn FA OFF in a strait line while boosting, you get the most speed out of your ship this way.

Yeah my boost speed is 360 (on second boost). Note also that on missions under 3 Mil I don't see much of an imbalance. I just went over to robigo, stacked 3 missions worth 11 million total. 2 jumps into the mission and every subsequent jump was met with 2 "follow me" ships and a security ship. I then Aborted the mission and continued the trip without incident. *that * is what sux.

The "follow me's " do nothing to you, just ignore them. The interdiction is part of the game, high reward equals high risk and high afford. We had before easy smuggle mission worth tenth of millions from Sothis, it's game breaking and good luck was stopped short after. Rewards should be half way balanced throughout the possible activitys, so it's totally ok that smuggling takes some afford and needs some skill, seeing the extremely high rewards.

Everyone saying submit to the interdiction, but I try to avoid it at first. Cause I can't tell you how many times I turn tail and ran only to have them interdict me immediately when I get to supercruise. Especially when I have two NPCs after me.

I personally find that the 40 second cool-down on the FSD is too great a risk to try and evade the Interdiction, but YMMV.

After reading about Ribigo on the forums I thought I'd head over to see what all the fuss was about. Took on 4 missions, delivered 3 making about 11 million credits, then got scanned leaving an outpost and failed the 4th. So in 20 mins I'd made 11 million, plus a few points of imperial rank and as a penalty got a tiny fine in a system I'll probably never visit again. I wouldn't go as far as some and call it cheating but it just doesn't seem part of the spirit in which the game should be played. Anyway, different strokes for different folks.

As a lazy smuggler I avoid the "don't get scanned" missions. There is still plenty to be earned from the "don't get destroyed" variety.

As someone who only really gets to play on weekends, Robigo has been a life saver. Otherwise I'd still be sporting a cobra as my primary ship (and I've been playing since gpp) however, I must admit, the ability to stack upwards of 20m CR worth of missions is a bit much.
I personally only exploited Robigo in order to get my first asp, but some seem to use it to get "end game" ships which I can't fathom.
I think what needs to be done is for there to be bubble wide long distance smuggling runs with reasonably large payouts but be so rare as to necessitate accepting them. Also, has anyone ever wondered, why the most remote outposts always seem to supply the illegal goods and it's almost always slaves?

Touchy touchy. Someone's mad they started smuggling without learning how first.

Let me guess, Robigo?

Problem with poeple playing the game legitimately?

Sticks & stones. I'd be happy to help you learn, but I'm more of a hand's on teacher....and you just tried to rile me(didn't work in case you missed it :p ).

Also would like to point out you were not the helping, in actual fact your antagonising the individual if you do not have anything "helpful" to say, I'd Google that as you clearly do not get the meaning of it. Now minor irritating individuals as side...........

In a later reply I said I was trying to spur him into learning stealth on his own, please read all replies before making assumptions. :)

I read it, you still do not get it, you get what a forum is right? It's to build postive community and "help" fellow gamers. Might want to google "forum" as well whilst your there. Have fun knock yourself out.

Not literally of course.....
