Piracy vs Npc ( no it's not one of 'those' threads )

Since I last attempted doing piracy on PvE, ( way before when ED went full release) it wasn't really profitable. You'd disable the thrusters of the target, start up the hatch limpets and proceed, only to have them repair them and have to repeat the process, you'd be lucky if they actually decided to drop cargo before they high waked out, or you didn't destroy them outright.

I decided to try again after I had a tip that it has improved, and it has, although it still takes a bit of time to find the really juicy targets.

Overall, the haul made me just over 2.5 mil in a little over an hour, including the repairs and restock of limpets and the usage of fuel.

May do this for a while yet. Definitely beats trading. :)

Interesting :) I had always assumed pirating NPCs was a waste of time in the game but 2.5 million an hour is quite good money

I thought it was a waste too, though if it wasn't for those scientific samples I got from a wanted keelback, my income would've been a lot lower, about 2 mil lower.

got real lucky on that one.

Piracy is something I don't think I've ever done to be honest. I might actually give it a try if the NPC are dropping stuff worth a hundred grand a piece!

Still find it quite dull. No interaction with the NPC just shoot out PP and suck dry.

Indeed, though since I've not had the experience to pirate a player, this is a somewhat adequate alternative, plus it's experience too. I hadn't touched piracy, as I mentioned above, since GPP. I've gotten bored of CZs, RES and trading, piracy was thrown to the wayside as it wasn't profitable back then. It does seem to be now though, if you can find a decent system that's high tech and in boom state it seems. I'm looking for a system that's in lockdown, I may get better results, who knows?

That's a shame...some response from the NPC would be good...e.g. "you horrid pirate! That was a priceless family heirloom" [arrrr]

I was told 'leave me alone you pirating scum' by an Npc

There is some interaction, just minimal at best, id like to see some more dialogue in regards to piracy towards Npc though.

Yea those scientific samples I've heard are the only things worth a damn.

I had to double check the galactic average for those, I thought my eyes were tricking me, lol

Yes, there needs to be more in general. For example a 'thanks for the help' message when you kill pirates attacking a T9.

A thumbnail image of the NPC when they say something would also help (I believe this is in the pipeline?) Anything to help give the impression you're dealing with an actual character

Did you sell at a black market in an Archon Delaine system Dolphin? Remember he gets a 20% to black market prices. Pretty much the only bonus anyone ever goes into his space for.

Lol. That gave me a good giggle. I can't rep you for it though, sadly, ol chap.

Maybe we can exchange stories over a pint of lager and a good ol game of cricket, or perhaps croquet, what?

Until then, toodle pip :)
