Cannot approach / land on cities in VR

Hello,

after a long period of non-playing Elite, i wanted to play with the new features since the latest patches and the engineers update again. So i installed Oculus 1.3, the latest NVIDIA drivers and launched Elite. All seemed to work flawlessly. But after a while i made my way to Ehrlich-City on Mercury. But on my approach to the surface of the planet i recognized, that there are no markers for the cities. I flew arround the entire planet without any luck. I started the surface-map of Mercury and selected Ehrlich-City. It changed nothing. No markers, so i didn't knew where to go. Normally in the left panel you can also select all the landing points, but not for me.

After that i started Elite without the HMD and suddenly all my city-markers are back again. So i could land at Ehrlich-City. It has something to do with the VR mode. I tried Horizons and Engineers. In both versions, the bug exists.

Has someone experienced this? AM i'm doing something wrong? What can i do?

edit: something is really odd with VR. In Engineers i landed in non-VR-mode at Ehrlich-City and quited the game. Now the save is only loadable in non-VR-mode. When i try to start the game in VR i get an endless loading screen (spinning vessel).

Can someone help me out?

Thanks!

Hey thanks for your replies!

Could you state where you're loading the game from each time? It sounds like some sort of version mismatch to me.

Do you mean what game version i've selected in the Elite launcher?

Horizons via the "Elite Dangerous: Horizons (64bit)" and Engineers via "Elite Dangerous: Horizons - Engineers Beta (2.1)" button.

In Horizons my ship is docked near Io at Columbus-Station. The game loads fine, but i can't land on cities. In Engineers my ship is docked at Ehrlich City and the game refuses to load until i deactivate VR. I have to kill the game task via right click in the task bar, because of the infinite loading screen.

It does sound like your VR instalation is loading Elite dangerous, not Elite Dangerous Horizons

I don't think so, because i can land on any planets surfaces, but not at cities. It seems that cities aren't loaded into the game. I can't pick them from the left menu-panel, because they aren't displayed there. In my surface map i can select every city, but i didn't help.

This happened to me just this Saturday! Wrong version. I had a red height marker on the planetary approach HUD

What have you done to bring it back to life?

What I was thinking was that maybe you had a side-by-side install (e.g. Steam) and that maybe you'd somehow crossed versions.

However, from your comment, it seems more like a bug. Possibly worth raising a ticket for it. Considering that your character at Ehrlich is in the Horizons 2.1 beta, you might have stumbled across a genuine problem, and your feedback might be welcomed.

No, i launch Elite from the Frontier-Launcher only.

I raised a ticket yesterday, but don't know if it's arrived. It is not in my ticket list and the site tells me, that reported bug-tickets are not displayed there. But there is no information where i can find this ticket. I'll write it in the bug forum.

What i've tested so far is to deactivate HMD in the graphics menu, restart Elite Engineers beta, load my game (at Ehrlich City) and activate VR from the graphics-menu again. That works, but i can't set the resolution for the HMD right, because of my 16:10 monitor display (1680x1050). So the resolution in VR isn't as good as it could be. :(

Anyway, thanks for your help! :) [up]
