mini space cow

so I have bought my first large ship the type 7 mini space cow so just looking what pointers I need to operate such a beefy upgrade from the type 6. how much harder have I made it in avoiding pirates of all types now?

Oh man, the Type-7. It's almost like an Initiation Hazing or a Rite of Passage. It was once touted as the worst ship in the game, and probably still is...just no one talks about it any more!

Lol, I flew the Type-7 to pay for the Type-9. Unless you've got a Clipper, she's your best money maker in that price range. Terrible Shields, awful Hull Armor, shameful Hardpoints, troll-level heat management (seriously, you will be at critical heat after every jump!), hideous Pitch, decent Yaw, mediocre speed, good cargo space.
What more could you ask for?

It does it's job, though. It makes you enough credits Trading to get you into either a Python or Type-9 pretty quickly. Then it is probably getting sold. Didn't even want to mine in it, though I'm sure it is decent at it.

Just be sure to Submit, and 4 PIPs to SYS while you boost away!

Heat sinks and a prayer book. Maybe some chaff to keep some fire off of you but make sure you can run. The type 7 has poor shields and even poorer armor. But it is a nice little work horse.

Edit: Skunk damn it. Ninja'd.

The T7 is one of only 2 non-faction ships I've never owned, the other being the Orca. Let us know how you get on with your new space heffer. :)

The whole "Submit to Interdiction then just boost away and jump" works on most ships, so I doubt that would change much from T6-7.

Except most ships can keep up with it, so still pretty dangerous. But again, defensive flying makes all the difference.

Agreed, but specifically in the Type-7's case. Without 4 PIPs to SYS, which gains you 58% (?) shield strength...you might see that re-buy screen more often than accustomed to! Still might anyway! She's a death trap, but an effective credit-maker.

Poor OP. Hope he isn't reading this and thinking he made a poor purchase. He really didn't. But fly smart and safe. You'll do fine.

And watch out out because a class 4 PA can one shot a type 7. I know, I've done it.

Are we talking about against other players or NPC "pirates" that just open fire on you anyways?

There's no reason a dedicated cargoship shouldn't have all pips in systems and engines, with more focus on systems for shields, engines for boost. I haven't flown a T7, but I've flown a cargo Clipper, no weapons, low tier shield, and after most encounters I have 1 ring of shields left.

Might come down to speed either player or NPC. Clipper is one of the fastest ships in the game. T7...not so much.

Oh dear god what the hell have I done! I have done a quick in system run before work and was going to a hi tech to upgrade the bits I need. Thank god I still have the type 6 in the stable. Looks like I'm going to have to get some heat sinks then

I loved my T7. It did the job well until I got into the T9 for trade. I then outfitted my T7 for Frey mining. I rarely get into trouble and then as others have said, submit and boost away. it will serve you well until you make the Python/Type 9 jump.

T7's should have "It's a trap...!" stencilled over the door...

I look at T7's the way my cat looks at his cat transport box...he just knows something bad is going to happen if he goes in there.

Head over to any of the Imperial trade routes in open. We'll have some fun.
