want to make new sub faction

at the moment I have been seeing a lot of new people on the game going right for robigo to rush up cash fast to get the bigger ships instead of doing it the hard way like we all had to on lunch.

so I have started sitting outside robigo in my anaconda cargo scanning people to see if they have any slaves to make them all fail there missions to teach them a lesson but for people who I find repeatedly offending I am killing on site.

so as of now I am calling myself the Shadow Police and would like to build up a vast number of players to carry out the task of stopping people farming money so fast instead of learning and trying new things on the game but I don't know how to go setting this all up, my friend has tolled me to make a website for the idea as a start but I though I would post of here first to see what sort of backing we would all get.

So, basically, you are trying to prefent players to play the game how they want?

And what about those players that do enjoy those missions because they are smugglers?

Why not patrolling a HAS rez, or a compromized NAV beacon to kill players that are grinding credits over there so all their bounty claims are gone?

This "Hate Robigo" Hype is so wrong.. Did you know i do those missions so now and then right? Everybody knows.. Do you also know that if i jump in my FAS and grind a HAS res i have more cr/hour then i do those smuggling missions? I like those missions..

As another idea, for those who don't want to deal with this, they can just go into solo play. This whole idea of trying to stop how someone wants to play is so strange and fascinating.

.... this type of behaviour will "encourage" players to play in Solo and popularise Private Groups as and when 2.1 drops.

Remember, don't complain if Open is ultimately perceived to be a "wasteland"....

I don't get this anti anti-robigo nonsense.

He's preventing people from playing how they want just as much as I am with piracy or the NPCs are with THEIR attempts to scan their cargo.

You might get a decent amount of credits in your FAS but you wouldn't in an Eagle or Sidewinder.

Not just that, by doing this, all associated with this 'shadow police' would likely succumb to a mass witch hunt by the local populace and make their lives hell to play in open, resulting in a short lived group. I've never done Robigo runs, never saw the point tbh.

If I want to amass a lot of credits, I'll go bounty hunt with a KWS in a HAZRES or find a decent trade route that's legal. Those are out there if you know where to look.

You know what else falls under the type of behaviour that'll send people to solo and PG because some players can't take a bit of hardship in their games? Piracy.

People who get offended and immedietly jump to solo over getting SCANNED are just as bad as people who get offended over practicly everything.

Doubt so but if they do that's on them. Part of the game.

Getting scanned by a player (which fails missions) gives the scanned player no recourse against the scanner - quite the passive aggressive course of action by the scanner (with no real risk).

Piracy, on the other hand, if done properly, is "fun" gameplay.

Yea it fails the missions and that's just about it. So does getting scanned by the NPCs but there ain't *much* protest going on about those.

The only time a Robigo runner has a good chance of meeting another player is at Robigo mines itself, other than that the chances of meeting another player are slim and especialy one that wants to scan them. Point is it might not be very challanging for the scanner but that's pretty much the only option there is (I would like if that was changed so I could actually rob Robigo runners aswell). But of course there can still be a risk if the Robigo runners either ganked him or themselfs posed a decent risk but they for the most part don't due to min/maxing.

Piracy can be fun? Well that's up to the victim. Look at my sig and you'll see not even piracy done right is always ''fun''.

NPCs actions are determined by the game itself. Players choosing to sit around scanning other players solely to make them fail missions (for no in-game reward) would seem to be aimed at spoiling others fun.

The definition of "done right" in this context is key (and subjective).

Why isn't there a reward? I think there should be for catching smuggelers and if not I can always RP there is a decent reward just like with piracy and even then it might have a indirect reward of players stop doing Robigo and do some trading which is good for the pirate.

So what if the NPCs are just doing it because the game told them to? The devs told the game to tell the NPCs to do it, are the devs there to spoil the fun? D:

Yea it is subjective.. which was the point I was making therefor there wasn't much point in telling people to go do piracy instead because it might be more fun for the other party aswell.

Leave them too it, i am sure the Robigo smugglers will retaliate and return in their corvettes/annacondas to stop this all part of the in game fun, i will be asking my a spec corvett flying pal to accompany me in and out of Robigo.

and i will do the same for him

all part of the fun in open play

So, basically. You're trolling people who are trying to make money in the game because you don't like the fact they're able to get it faster than you originally did? Congratulations on being a Jackass for no real reason.

plus, players can scan other players that are sitting in the hangar, while NPC scans are limited to open spaces only.

There is no counter-action a smuggler could use if it gets scanned by another player while looking for missions in the BB.

I don't think it is right assuming everybody at robigo is abusing/grinding millions anyway.

I just can't remember that word we use when someone ruins others gameplay without any kind of roleplay or interaction.. oh,.. eerr no, I can't :)

No but then again that's the only thing a player RPing a cop can do at Robigo.

Everybody? No. Most? Yea probably.

The hypocrisy is real in this thread.

First, the players that are grinding Robigo, good for them. If that is how they want to play the game, by all means it is part of the game, so play it to your hearts content. Honestly, I did a few runs trying for Empire rank as the mythical Cubeo wasn't producing good work for me... Robigo has missions, that pay well, but it wasn't my cup of tea... So I moved on from it.

Now, just as Robigo is a mechanic of the game, so is scanning to fail others missions. If a CMDR wants to play the game by scanning other CMDR's, shouldn't we grant them the same "play as you want" privileges? (On a side note: is it just the normal "lock scan" that fails? Because I "lock scan" almost every CMDR I come across to see who they are and where their allegiances lie) It isn't the fault of the CMDR scanning that a scan fails the missions, it is a game mechanic. Is it sporting? Maybe. Is it fair? Absolutely as there isn't a glitch/exploit being taken advantage of. For me, it sounds boring just sitting there waiting to scan... especially as Solo is an option that people playing like this generally use.

So what then? There are a ton of Robigo guys that leave into solo play, and a bunch of Open CMDR's that just float at Robigo? Personally, I don't see how any of this is fun, but to each their own. Do you, but I won't be floating at a dock or playing in solo.

Reason #75 PG will be so much more popular than Open come 1.6.
