Maybe you can hide whilst combat logging on NPCs in solo and private however over half of the community play open for PvP and random player interaction. Our PvP fill will never dull down, if anything it will improve with the lack of bad kids like yourself.

The forums are 90% full of carebears that complain and play mostly in solo. We will still have groups to clash with such as IED, EXO, CATS, VAIL, MMILITIA, PBSF and all of the other random groups and players looking for combat. The difference now is player pirating will take a huge hit as well as ganking.

The PC community has had PG for quite some time. They don't seem to suffer. I believe that it will improve the game. Though i am speaking to a bunch of half-whit carebears that hide in solo and cry when everything is not given to them. So my views do not matter, at least on the forums.

PG is the same as a PvP toggle on your character. It will allow those that want to PvP to do so and those that do not to stay out of it.

I for one will enjoy the peace for awhile, after all. PvP and PG is the least of our worries in 2.1. Lots of cool new features as well as some that really just kill it.

Partially true, once the carebears get bored with the lack and rush of danger they will jump ship to go play infinite call of duty or whatever it is.

More LOLZ. Accusing me of logging against NPC's.

Me not liking PvP combat doesn't mean I don't enjoy PvE combat. By playing exclusively in Solo, I am following an acceptable way of getting a pure PvE experience, as per what FD says I'm allowed to do.

And, cor' blimey! That's a lot of baseless claims you've made there! I didn't realise that you're in fact David Braben, and have access to all the numbers regarding who plays what mode! Oh, and before you say that I made claims in my post; well, no I didn't. Emphasis on "I think..." That's called speculation, which is allowed. :)

And the insults... Considering I treated you with respect in my post, never once resorting to name-calling, well, I feel calling me a half-whit care-bear was a little unfair. I won't ask for an apology. I know the mighty Karmas Soldier is above giving apologies...

Was it Eve that ended up dominated by 2 giant gangs? I pray that this game does not move in that direction.

That won't happen. Even if Open becomes a major poo-storm (which it shouldn't do, given the size of the galaxy), there's solo where you can't be directly affected by the actions of other players and Private Groups coming up where you have more control over the human CMDRs you may encounter.

You know the score mate, petty insults and name calling is just his level. He's pathetic.

WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?

and eat hectate sea worms together because they're harvested from hydrothermal vents and prized for the sulphurous salty flavour. They are best eaten live to ensure freshness.

I prefer Kitten Brand Coffee.

Man what a read... Y'know, I'd get involved an all, but... I'm from the bear clan... So that, kinda automatically makes me a carebear. DAMN YOU NATIVE AMERICAN ANSCESTORS!

Basically the coming "private groups" WILL affect the game...

there is one way, and one way only, to encourage people NOT to use private groups, and that way is "don't be a       ".

Picture it, you've just started the game. you've saved up all your cash on top of the 1000 you got to start with (in case anybody has forgotten, that's 1% of the cash us GPP people started with) and managed to work your way into an eagle. You're pretty happy with your ship, floating along in the starter systems having fun. Until a Python comes along and wastes you and the last hours of your life within seconds.

That Pilot has a few options

1 - Quit the game and never come back to it
2 - Play in solo
3 - Play in a private group which polices PvP activity
4 - Keep playing in open where they are likely to get interdicted and destroyed by Captain        and his friends over and over again, because "hurr durr I'm bigger than you"

Option 1 - Loss of money for frontier, enough people do this and the game collapses, WE ALL LOSE
Option 2 - Enough people do this, the universe becomes a lonely place, WE ALL LOSE
Option 3 - Enough people do this, and we'll all have a great time... The        Canoes fly about with only other        canoes. There are many tears on the forums because "People aren't a sociopath like I am" and "nobody wants to play with me"
Option 4 - Would it happen though, would it, really?

On the other hand, THIS CAN ALL BE AVOIDED by just playing WITH people. If you've going to be a bad guy, be a pirate... Blowing people up gets you literally nowhere in the game, you can't buy a new ship with the flaming remains of an eagle... but stop the CMDR and RP a pirate, demand a percentage or even all their cargo... you gain, the other player has a decent enough experience of the game (and I would honestly LOVE to be pirated) and if they decide to "fight for their life" that's their choice. You'll still get some PvP

I don't see why people can't just stop and think for a moment. Like the space cats. they're a bit... whacky. They have their RP cult thing, but they play the game, they don't just go after people and blow them up, they work on the BGS and play the game properly... I respect them for that. They're an enemy, but a valued one in game terms.

What do you get from simply ruining somebody else's day. You don't get credits for it, likely as not an insignificant boost to your combat ranking. Or is it truly the only way you can get pleasure, from hurting others...

"It's just a game" yes it is, maybe people need to learn that and appreciate that others don't want to play that way
"You're a care bear" yes I am, I care, I care about this community, I care about this game, I care, in general, about other people. Because I have empathy.

One big flaw with all of this. If you wanna play the bad guy there is practicly no point in choosing piracy. You aren't getting a new ship either doing that.

True but Hopefully FD will work at balancing that as it is obviously required. And it does give you MORE than just blowing people up, especially if you hit up RES sites where there are known deposits and prey on mining ships... take a "tax" for "protection"

Extremely well put, much deserved rep for you.

Holy cow this topic is still a thing. Thought for sure it would die. Anyway, there is a solution to this little war. Go into CQC/Arena and measure away. Love to see some of these hardcore PvP experts ditch the SCB stacked corvettes and pal around in a fighter. And then Eravate can be left alone and we don't need to see them in Galaxy.

No I don't think you can say that it gives more because it's still pennies. Sure it might be slightly more than nothing but it's still pretty close to nothing and you will not be able to get another ship in a timely fashion.

Haven't been around pirating in any rings as every time I've never seen another player that isn't my friend mining. Maybe a bounty hunter floating around but never been to a place that is so popular it has a lot of people mining there.

Also I don't think there will be any rebalancing any time soon either. I think I might take the liberty and say Frontier are at fault because there are all these ganking groups. There isn't much reason to do piracy over ganking. Piracy is more risky, difficult and you still get the same bounties (more or less) via piracy and you might get slightly more out of piracy than you would with ganking but that doesn't make up for it.

Or, even simpler... just choose a system 3 jumps away which isn't the starter ******* systems

To be fair, mining isn't exactly popular in any mode. That'll change come 2.1 though.

I just do it now because RP reasons.
